Correctly Aiming your foglights

A quick "how to" aim the foglamps on your 1999 to 2001 Impreza. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
In the above picture, you can see two of four screws that surround the foglight. In this case, you are looking at the driver's side foglamp. There is a red dot marking the top left screw- this screw is not used to secure the foglamp, but is the adjustment screw. It passes through one of the four bracket tabs on each lamp (one at each corner), and then presses against the bumper cover. Tightening the screw presses that corner of the lamp away from the bumper, loosening it would allow the foglamp to get closer to the bumper cover. On the passenger side foglamp, this screw would be the top right screw.
This is a close up of the adjustment screw. If you turn the screw to the right, the screw will tighten, and the foglamp will aim down towards the road and out from the centerline of the car. If you turn it to the left, it will loosen the screw, thus aiming the foglamps more towards the centerline of the car and upwards.
NOTE: For serious fine-tuning of the beam pattern, you can remove the three bolts holding the foglamp to the bumper, and stack washers behind the tabs on the fog brackets, thus raising each corner of the lamp in fine degrees. The adjustment screw can then be used to finalize your beam pattern. The fog lamps can be made significantly more effective in this manner.
