Slow Passenger Window

Put the window completely down. Take off the door panel. Look at the top of the door. You will see two 'felt pads' that hold the window glass tight and keep it from shaking. (yeah, right) A pair of 10mm bolts secures these pads. (one bolt per pad) BUT! Look closely and you will notice that there are actually two brackets secured by the 10mm bolt. Both of the brackets are adjustable. The idea is to move the door panel away from the door as far as possible. It seems that the rubber moulding on the door panel is fitted too tight against the window. When the door panel is removed, the window goes up and down as fast as the driver’s window. Each 10mm bolt holds two brackets. The top bracket helps to hold the door panel in place, the bottom bracket (felt pad) helps to locate the window glass. What you want to do is loosen each 10mm bolt and slide the TOP bracket AWAY from the window, while at the same time not moving the bottom bracket. As you slide the top bracket towards you, you will notice that part of the bracket will begin to bend. That is OK, don't worry about it. Slide the top bracket as far as you can and then tighten down the 10mm bolt. Be careful as you tighten the bolt, because the bottom bracket will turn to the right as you torque it down. Keep the brackets strait as you tighten the bolts. You are now done with the door itself. Now pick up the door panel. Look at the grey metal spring clips on the door panel. There are two of them. They are part of the rubber and aluminium moulding that presses up against the window. Carefully put the door panel back on the door and take note of where these spring clips slide onto the lip of the door. (you should see scratches in the paint where the clips attach) Take a crescent wrench (or other suitable tool) and slightly 'bend' the metal framework of the door exactly where these clips attach. Bend the metal away from the window. In effect, what you are doing is moving the door panel away from the window enough so that friction from the rubber moulding does not slow the window down. Put the door panel back on and you are in business.
