Colouring your Subaru Badge

Coloring your front badge. This quick modification has been successfully repeated a number of times, and I have decided to document the process. The front badge can be purchased for around €20 to €60, so this is a money saver. Before attempting this - understand that I take NO responsibility for what you do to your car. Special thanks to DonA of the North East RS club for posting this idea! (Search for "badge" "paint" in the i-Club forum.)
Take it off and sand it. It's just held on by automotive double-sided sticky tape. Get a flat-blade screwdriver and pry it off the car. If you peel it off slowly, you should be able to salvage the original tape. If not, pick up some 3M Automotive tape at your local Pepboys / AutoZone / etc. This is the badge after I peeled it off my car and sanded the black paint off the back. There are really no tricks to doing this, just get some fine grit paper or steel wool and sand it off. Once you get the black off, it will look frosted clear. Hold it up to the light to make sure you got all the little bits of black paint off.
Paint choice. I suggest model paint, or an enamel based paint to coat the back. Acrylic (Water Based) paint will peel off over time. You can buy small bottles for €1.50 or a full colour assortment for €6.00. I chose to try something unique, and go for a Rally Blue badge. My car is black, and I think it will accent it nicely. STi Pink can be made - Brendan's red badge looks great on his car. (He gave me the idea of documenting this).
Start painting! You will want to get an even coat on, and let it dry. You can tell how even your coat is - by holding it up to a light. I used two coats to paint my badge Rally Blue. I mixed blue, white, and silver to get my colour.
Finished. Now you have a unique addition to your Subaru mods, and you saved yourself €20 on buying an official STi one.
