Options ahead of mapping

The biggest gimmicks on the go are warm air induction kits and dump valves , they make no difference, if you want the noise fair enough, the noises are cool , for the sake of the 10-15hp I’d leave the factory cat in it ,
The factory air box is a better job than any induction kit to a point

310-330hp is a realistic figure but don’t worry too much about the headline figure , when you take it for that first drive you’ll be more than happy

Best of luck Mapping 👌🏻

Pints of vodka more like.

Going off what Matthew and Eoin have already wrote, the induction is really just noise as far as I can tell, but there are some really nice carbon induction kits that look fantastic.
Yeah it's purely noise I'm after with the induction kit, but would still be after a good quality one. Carbon ones would be cool alright.

Yeah, I've read that 350bhp is one thing but 320bhp done right with a good torque band would be better so the end number isn't the be all and end all.

Tis the noise I'm after mostly and any little gains it may give would be a benefit. As for the BOV, if I could find out for certain which is better for the car then I'd change or keep if they makes sense.

Thanks, it'll be a job for next year and im sure other work will be needed ahead of it too knowing my luck.

for a road car, there is no bad or good for BOV really. The bad or good, is whether you want the noise or not.

The oiled filters are said to be bad for the MAF, and again not really necessary on a road car especially. An oiled filter will catch way more dust, etc than a dry one so its a lot more maintenance aside from possibly causing issues for the MAF.

Definitely stay with a dry filter, oiled filters can clog/alter the reading in the maf. So even with a remap your cars not going to run how it's been mapped as it'll be reading the wrong ratios on the intake side of things

Unless you plan on cleaning the sensor on a regular basis stick with a dry filter

Yeah, bit painful, every 2nd service or so, I'd have taken off the RCM, washed and reoiled then and put back on the next day. It's fine... Just a bit of a chore.
I've since went to a Zerosports intake and it's a dry mesh filter.
I do love a bit of intake sounds tho lol

Yeah I was thinking as much about the oiled filters and the MAF sensor. I see it on the Celica, it clogs up quite quickly and needs a clean but not as detrimental on that only for emissions come NCT time.

Will have a look at the zerosports kit too and see what's up with it. A bit of intake and a bit of spool and I'll be smiling all the way home 😂😂
