04 STi Type UK: Recommended brakes for Street and Track use?

Hi everyone,

Any recommendations for performance brakes for both street and track use? I'm not a professional driver, so I'm not looking for seriously expensive stuff. I'm looking for something a bit better than standard stuff with less brake fade after a few laps.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Cheers,

Rafa

The Project mu 800 pads are excellent and the dust doesn?t destroy the wheels but depends on your budget.

I only street driving with the odd back road belt and can?t fault my setup. They are very affordable and the best I have ever put on a car. I would never return to Ferodo or MTEC again.

DBA T2 discs
Project Mu HC+800 pads

my amature opinion . i would have to agree with baz

not cheap but gave me back confidence i lost at track day few years back , and when joe is pressing brake pedal in passo seat i knew i was leaving it late enough . :icon_biggrin:

im back running brembo pads for road but will probably get some good one for trip
thats my story .

Thanks ross :icon_biggrin::thumbsup: you were leaving it quite late but tidy driving

have ran a good few pads and iv found ferodo ds2500 to be the best for road and fast laps 270 euros for brembo fronts. Not sure how that compares to the rest but there a very good pad

You might get a good point of view off Yokhama on here as he recently went from standard to ds2500

Have ds2500 ferodo in the blob eye sti since 2014 and still life in them, great on road and track, it's the rears that are gone which were the standard pads, just looking to try something different as good reviews on the project mu 800 pad

You can upgrade up to a bigger spec pad in the Project Mu range if you are going to the ring. The HC+800 is a fast road pad I think. At least, that is what I took from the reviews and advice.

I thought rears are not that important :ponder2:

Definitely not , after chatting to a brake specialist at a famous German racetrack he recommended a stronger biting pad in the back to take the load off the front brakes as they are front biased . I found it work quite well and no issues with front discs overheating anymore on track

I?ve ran most of the best pads in my Brembo?s when I had them.
Best pad overall was the DS2500, as an all rounder for track and fast back road.

You could daily the car for a year and then call on them big time on a track day, no fade and good solid pedal.

Have them in the APs too and never needed more.

It all really depends on how mad you go and how much middle pedal you need to use.

They didn?t eat discs or destroy wheels and take savage abuse on track.

There may be better out there now days but my capabilities at speed on track and road, they are the perfect combo.
Never failed me.

Can supply project mu, hawk, brembo, ferodo etc.

For a mid range disc for fast road and light track we can supply Brembo etc

These brembo discs are fantastic all rounder.
