went halves on a 99 civic for a bit of track-criac . its a 1.4i , standard car . so plan is to strip it of most non essintial parts . and up grade it gradually with bits to make it go faster . power/ handling . so if any parts out there that u think might intrest us , let me know . thanks in advance .

first purchase the other was a helmet from aldi for €35 . and two toe straps for €25 .

rough starting list of wanted parts would be

remove 17's and get some 15 with decent/partworn tyres
suspension
brakes
bucket seat , harness and steering wheel

we've been scouring donedeal for a few "deals" but thought i stick it up here aswell

i realise :needpics: so will get up a few asap .

thanks in advance !!

Good man Ross
Great car for it
Know a lad who brakes them around the corner
Ill ask him what he has
Best off luck with it

Hondas make a great track car as much as I hate them and the owners

Few suggestions as I have built a 1.8 vtec civic trackcar so my experiences might help.

1.Either a good B16(1.6) or B18 (1.8) swap , icetronix can help with loom convertor, sometime you'll have to run 2-3 extra wires in for the heater circuit on the lambda and the knock sensor as the 1.4 loom may not have these, very simple to do.

2.Suspension
Decent 2nd hand set of coilovers, camber arms front and rear

3. Brakes ,rear discs coversion and ebc yellow stuff work well on a light car, I brake at the 50 yard mark at the end on the straight in mondello, in an Impreza you'd be breaking at the bridge or just after.

4. Toyo R888's medium compound, great tyre

5. Kazz 1.5 way lsd or equivalent , makes a great job of them

cheers colm , that would be great

baz , i hear ye (civics and owners ) but best tool for job intendet so im told , your suggestion are really welcome and i may have a few Q's for you as we progress , so thanks for the info .possibly head down the 1.8 direction if/when swappin out.

nivek , as good as that sounds it may be too big for a little civic ,the brakes might intrest us though . can you elabourate on them . ie fitting possible ??

mate of mine is into his Hondas , will get ya some contact details for him , would be able to sort out most if not all what your after

cheers tommy !

so yesterday she made her maiden voyage to mondello , interior stripped , bucket seat, harness , steering wheel installed and standard everything else . and away with us . bit nervey knowing we would be the slowest lads out therre with martin tracey and the likes pullin into paddock , but only 12 cars booked in for morning so glad it was goin to be gappy out on track .

so off we went , my mate driving first with me in passo . so off we went out on track , made it half way through the first bend and .................................. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee round we go . havent laughed as hard since i seen that "9 sec ring lap" . she sure is light at the back ! few laps then back to the pits for a quick cool down and in i got .

so out i went , and spun it 4 times in 3 laps . my reasoning for this was lookin for the limits of car and grip and exceeding both to see what she was capable of . black flagged on my first session , but only to make sure all was ok with the car .

so on we went in and out of the pits all day long giving her a fair amount of abuse . and she held up well .
we started the day learning lines and braking points and we were doing 2:50(with spins) on the international track .
as we started to gets to grips withthis new toy , the lap times started to tumble and the competitive side started cuming . 2:48 , 2:45, 2:40 , 2:35 and down to 2 :30 ish . but this was getting hard as in the afternoon , track was busyier so gettin out of the way of faster cars was slowin us down . we were trying to pick and chose best time to go out for some clean laps. so it heated up and times were getting tighter . sub 2:30 was now the new standard . and petrol was disappearing . (€80 for the full day)

a bit of dubious time keeping left me with an estimate of 2:27 for the day which i was happy with . then my mate went out , got 2 lovely clean laps and smashed a 2:25.8 . and with no juice left we called it a day at about 5 pm .

all in all a great day , but was freezing, as mondello usually is .so now weve got our benchmark , we'll start to upgrade bit by bit and bring her back down for another day out.

thats how i spent my bh monday !!!

Best of luck with the build.
There a great little car to track with no shortage of parts available.
A B18c type r engine would be my recommendation to you.

Tryin to post pics off phone

most defp keith , would go back out again tomorrow if funds allowed !

roll on the next one .

its a different experience than havin the bug out on track , as bug is a daily driver ,you are always more concious of doin damage , but with the shivic you can push and abuse it alot more without the worry . although goin backwards in a cloud of smoke with a "rallycross astra" cuming at you side on was quite a moment :shtf:, lol

right so , the 17's that came with the car have to go . so whats the best size rim for it 14 ' or 15 ' in your opinion .
personally im leaning towards the 15s . :dontknow:

15" as you'll fit 282mm 98 spec teg type r brakes under there if upgrading plus cheaper for track tyres
