Acetone

Octane Boostaholics
Hey guys, I am looking for Acetone, pure and clear.

Any ideas where I could get this chemical? This is freely accessible chemical in Czech, but I cant seem to be able to find it, I tried several Hardware stores, including Halfords and Woodies. So far the only Acetone I was able to find was in pharmacies in form of nail polish remover, but thats like 20% mixture.

This is the reason why I am looking for acetone:

thanks for any tips

I think it has to be signed for in a garda station. Ring your local secondary school and ask to speak to the teacher who looks after the science chemicals and ask who their supplier is.

I used white spirits with atf after seeing that video! Worked really well!

I have some white spirit at home, so if I wont find acetone I will deffo try it. Weird thing is though, White Spirit didnt work for removing already dried out paint...

Yeah as far as I could work out the main point of the acetone was to thin out the atf and penetrate the the rust. I used it on a turbo stud that I wasn't able the heat with the gas and wd40 was doing nothing for it! Mixed it up in a bottle gave it a good shake and poured it all over the stud I was trying to get out and kept working it back and forth and it came out in a few minutes. You'd wanna store it safely though because I'd say it would be fairly flammable and when it's mixed up in a bottle like that it goes a really light pink colour that could be mistaken for a drink.

Oh, thanks for tips, I bought special metal cannister for it with little pump to get it out. No rubber, I know the acetone eats through the rubber like nobodys business, no kids home, so no worries about anyone getting poisoned:)

I need to remove downpipe from Turbo, and since its there for 15 years now, I doubt it will be easy job to do. So thats why I dont want to leave anything to 'luck'

Mine was actually not that bad, i fully expected it to be welded on but it was more access that was difficult. Best of luck with it man.

It only takes one to wreck your day!haha to be honest you can't beat having the gas bottles for something like that, I was doing it on a merc where I couldn't get access with the gas but you might be ok with a Subaru. One of them portable blow torches you get in the hardware would even do you, you just wanna heat the surrounding metal enough to get it to expand a bit

I have heard that pouring it in and going for drive to warm the turbo should be grand, but I am afraid that I will burn myself after that, given the fact the amount of free space around it.

Fingers crossed that all will go well. Btw, managed to get through to the guy on Adverts as someone posted above, and he is selling it out from his house it seems. Thats some next level sh*t right there:D

Why is it so hard to get some in other countries free to get chemicals?
