Advice needed - Crazy loud Kakimoto.

Hey guys

I need your advice regarding my exhaust.

So, a while ago, I replaced my exhaust system with Kakimoto middle section (with 2 resonators) and the rear silencer. I wanted something more open and less restrictive.

But It's so ridiculously loud it's driving me crazy! And knowing what Kakimoto is like (had an opportunity to hear it in MacMac's car) I think in my car it's like 10x louder.
Even Simon (JGM) admitted it's very loud.

I decided I want to do something with it. Don't want to be pulled by every gard, and I'm actually convinced it doesn't meet the Mondello restrictions either.

I considered buying the dedicated bung as in the link below..

http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=24_52&products_id=1294

but after looking up the youtube videos, the sound off it is simply shite.

I'm not a fan of the raspy sound this system makes to be honest. I loved my H&S silencer, but it was only 2.5 inch and has been modified to slip-jount connection to fit my catted middle section.

Maybe I should replace the whole system... and now the question is, what would give me the best sound without restricting the flow too much?

I have a Cusco 3" decat-downpipe which converts to 2.5 joint.

PS
Look at this mo-fo Kakimoto tailpipe - you could fit your head inside it! :icon_lol:

I have a Fujitsubo exhaust on the bug - I've had 2 other cars with Fujistubo exhausts. They are in my opinion the best sounding exhausts from outside the car however on the inside of the car, you can barely even hear them (unless all 4 windows are open), so that can be a massive downside for some, and it does slightly bother me - but then it never has hassle at the NCT or with :police:

Is it 2.5" or 3" mate?
Does it have silencers/resonators in the middle section? Do you have a cat?

You have a newage, which is known for much better sound deadening... unlike my type-R, where the sound deadening practically doesn't exist :)

its a JDM model - so as far as I'm aware, the downpipe doesn't have a cat. however there is a cat after the downpipe ????, and the fujitsubo is one piece from there, which removed a standard resonator, although it actually looked like a 2nd cat, that pipe was then connected to the backbox.

the actual exhaust came off a classic impreza as well, but you're right, there is some amount of sound deadening in the newage. I had the backseats out yesterday and you could see it put everywhere.

myne is also jdm for ref, with a 3' decatted system with kakimoto at the rear . and i will admit it is very loud ,possibly too loud . i tried a 2.5 centre with genome back but wasnt overly impessed with the more (what i considered raspy ) civic like noise as opposed to dhe deep noise that a subaru should have .

i also am convinced a nicer , deeper , burble can be got for the classic over newage .

i reckon meet up with some of the classic members , see what system they are running , and get your self one of them . shifting your own system on shouldnt be too much trouble ,even a swap or something to that effect

i would like a quieter system but im also happy to be getting away with what i have at the min

you can see the smallish silencers on it there.

Just bought a Kakimoto bung off Hammie..

We will see how it sounds with it :)

Andy, You haven't heard mine! MacMacs to me wasn't as bad when I was in the passo seat last time in Mondello.
Mine opens a hell behind the car. Like a feckin jumbo jet on full throttle LOL

This is my setup btw.. before I put it into my car and made my life miserable lol

I thought the same mate, until I took Simon on board..
He admitted it was LOUD as well..

I don't know what's wrong with it but this exhaust seems to be louder than anything else I could put on my car.

nothing worse than an overly loud exhaust. Had the blitz nur spec r on the car about 2 weeks and had to get rid of it. Id never heard of a subaru as loud with a blitz as our one was. You were deaf within 20mins and a splitting headache within 5. it was a nightmare to drive it swapped it for a quieter system that was already on the car and im much happier. Saying that I have a custom prodrive exhaust to go on hopefully its not mental loud

You're saying the Blitz Nur Spec was loud...

see the video then you will know what I'm talking about that Kakimoto is wrecking my head lol

And that's at idol.....
Have to say, the nicest sounding exhaust at full chap IMO is still the kakimoto
There will be a full decat kakimoto on my next wagon! I'll just throw a ECV and a decent bung setup into it when I'm doing it

OK so I fitted the bung today I got from Hammie.

It's sweet and quiet. Ideal for long journeys but I think it may cause a bit of back pressure and affect the map. The diameter of the bung is very small.

Here's the video with the bung.
