Air filters

I'm thinking of replacing the air filter with either a k & n or pipercross panel. Any opinions out there around this & would it void the subaru warranty by putting in a non scooby part.

it will definetely void ur warranty.....unless u put the old box back on when u have a problem...not that u will in a scooby :subaru:

Id use a piper cross filter if i were you.
K&N filters are paper based and require oiling which can cause damage to your MAF sensor.
Piper cross filters are made of different layers of different density foam and dont require oiling.
I used a piper cross viper induction kit in my Glanza V to excellent effect. And i plan to buy a piper cross panel filter for my impreza.
Not sure about the warrenty thing though

You could get the green cotton panel filters...they are pretty good had one on mine before no issues also have a million mile warrenty i think.... :ponder:

I think K&N filters come with a little sachet of oil. Still risky with the maf sensor.
I know a lad who had a K&N on a VW Golf and it fecked up the Maf.

have a powertec on mine very nice looking, great rasp sound off it and have had no prolems wit it.

had one on my 106 rallye as well and no problems

Have K&N panel filter on my Type r and it's the buisness

Both K&N and Pipercross filter's are oiled. The K&N comes oiled and the Pipercross has the oil supplied. They are both good filters, and don't damage MAF's unless over oiled.
