Alloy Wheels

My car is badly in need of a set of alloys and i've been looking around for a while now and have found a few wheels that i'd be interested in. I'm pretty much set on gettin a set of gun metal ones to suit the black car. Just wanting to know what brands you would recommend or advise against?? I'm prone to hitting the odd pot hole so i really dont want to end up with a cracked rim after a week. I've been looking at the likes of rota rims, KEI and Inovit to name a few. Ideally i'd like a set of prodrive wheels but they're probably a little out of my price range, any advice appreciated

If you're prone to hitting potholes then very few alloys are gonna stay circular. The best would be speedline for punishment though.

i got a set of 18" team dynamics monza r in gold off ebay for 500 euro... not shabby. then got a good deal on tyres, so for 980 i got a decent set of wheels!! look around ebay

I'd go with Dave on this! The GRA's would look great on her in a 7.5x18 in antracite!

They shouldn't affect it if dropping as I'm sure that the Legacy sits on 7.5x17 already so you'd only be going up on the whells size and down on the tyre profile!

just goin by my own car..I cant get 225 tyres on it for one ...and 18's would definetly be a stretch

Just to clarify Rob, I'm not saying they won't fit as is..just be aware if you planning to lower it thats all ....the rears sit slightly under the arches so ya may be looking at an 18/215/35 if its lowered

Ye, I'm still undecided about whether to stick with 17/215/45 or go 18 with 215/40 tyre. If i go 18 then with the 40 tyre the radius of the wheel will only increase by 7mm (or 2mm with with a 35 tyre). Would that difference have much of an effect on acceleration or premature wear on the diff?

7mm is fcuk all..i thought it was more..I tired an 18/40 on mine and it was too tight but im probably too low with too much camber...so long as your not changing the diameter hugely i cant see how it could cause a problem.

well 14mm overall in diameter i didnt think was too much cause i do want to lower it a bit on coilovers in a couple of months too. How much have you lowered yours dave?

not sure..like that when i got it so i didnt fcuk with its..probably as low as you can go driving around here with all the speed bumps.
