Heating has been acting up lately and not heating the rads properly. i live in an apartment, 2 motorised valves on water tank in hot press one for hot water circuit and one for rads circuits, something is wrong somewhere and its restricting heat to the rads, only rad that gets up to temperature is the one in the kitchen that comes straight off the boiler. anyone want to come out and throw an eye on it for me? or recommend someone cheap that can look at it for me? :new_puppy_dog_eyes:

bled as in let any air out of the top of the rad with a bleed key??? or is there something different you mean ie where the rad pipes that come out of the wall and meet the bottom of the rad? Bit of a noob when it comes to these heating systems, could be the boiler or the motorised valves or something totally different. Basically the system only works in manual mode and you need to mess around to get it working properly and keep the heat going around the system. me and my dad couldnt figure it out last weekend, its really wrecking my head!

Just bled with d key for the top of the rad,its new 2me aswell mate, but my girlfriends rad in her room wasnt heating up at all and the rest of the house was, turned out it just needed a bleed. Hope u get sorted soon mate, not the weather for the heating 2go on the blink!

ye had that when we 1st moved in with one rad but the rest are fine, water comes out as soon as you start to bleed them

Does the hot water circuit work Ok ??

There should be thermostat that controls the motorized valves / circulation pump.

if you adjust the thermostats up or down you should hear if the pump cuts in or not, this will tell you if the circulation pump is working

ye hot water is grand, there thermostat on the water tank is controlling the motorised valves, when i flicked it up to 70 degress the valves opened again, hot water is getting passed through both valves at the minute but rads on rad circuit dont seem to be getting as hot as rads coming straight off the boiler .Anyone know where are the some plumbers providers around Dublin, need to replce part of none of these valves( this aint the problem!)

is there a manafold for the rads (all the pipes connected to one bar ) if there is one of the valves is closed there should be 2 1 blue 1 red make sure there opened .

Could be airlocked somewhere going to the rads on the circuit. Pm me if you need any parts dan i have a mate who works in Davies.

Work in a plumbers providers myself dan. Hard to say what it is without seeing it. Alan 555scooby had a problem something similar reciently think he just got his system balanced.

Ill Pm you a very good plumbers number if you want to get in touch with someone.

Providing it aint anything major ill give him any parts you need free or charge that way all you will need to worry about is labour

Same thing happened to an ex of mine. If your central heating works of the gas. Make sure the water level in the boiler is topped up. it can cause the system to be cold if it isnt.

just a taught as ive had a similar problem and bled the rads when i did this the heating stopped working altogether,
got a plumber out and he said its a pressurised system, after time the pressure drops if u have a gauge on ur boiler normaly it
should display 1.5 to 2 bar, under the boiler there is two nobs near the front, turn the one on the left open then the one on the
right this is with the heating off the gauge will start rising go 1.5 bar to be safe, then close them right first then left, system is now pressurised
i live in an apartment and do my own every now and again i think all apartments are the same,
hope this helps.

story man im welder heating engineer sounds like they need balancing most rads in apartments are back to back or have drops what to do is open fully the ones that arnt heating and close of the hottest rad. then turn the heating on. once the rads around the house start heating open the rad valves a couple of turns then open the hottest rad rad valves one turn go to the boiler if the pump is making any sort of strange noise the system may have to be re presurised hope this helps

i have this probelm (in a house though)
we added three new rads to attic
and now kitchen and sitting room dont heat very well (sitting room gets warm but not hot)KITCHEN BARELY HEATS AT ALL)
ANY i deas?

did you get the btu or the kilowatts of the rads before buying could be pump sounds like a balancing problem though go to the nearst rad to the boiler if thats very hot it will need balancing 20 minute job i could give you instructions on what to do first check the rad closet to the boiler to make sure

sounds like ur heating system needs to b balanced out and also check that there is enough pressure in ur boiler r it wont heat all ur rads..there is a valve around ur boiler that alows u to top up the pressure in ur boiler by adding water from the mains..it should b at 1bar without it being turned on and also check is ur boiler big enough to feed all the rads..the more rads u have the bigger the boiler u need...hope u get it sorted mate...my wifes father is a plumber if u need help ill send u his number..he"l look after u

airlock, or has anyone messed with out flow valves on rads, that can slow or speed up flow of rad, if one was always hot first or hotter than rest you slow that one down to push water to others, called balancing, only problem if plumbed with old system and not manifold one
