I'm having a bit of trouble with Microsoft Word on my laptop. It keeps asking me for an activation key but then every time i type it in it just says invalid activation key!! :wall:

Very rarely use it for anything other than perhaps writing a letter or something, but i have an assignment for college now and need some other options on the ribbon bar that aren't available until you input the key!

Do activation keys expire if they are not used within a certain timescale? Its Microsoft Word 07 i'm trying to use on a HP laptop.

Any help appreciated. :thumbsup:
 
is it a legitimate copy of windows and word you have? maybe key you have doesnt match version on your laptop If you cant figure it out, download open office, its similar to Microsoft office except its free, should be able to open all your files no problem and save them in word format. or as Paulo said google docs!
 
Ring micro soft.

open word, Go to help, activation, by phone...and it will give you a code. write this down. Go to miscrosoft website get the activation number, ring it ..you'l get throught to an IVR..it will ask you to punch in the code, think its 16 digits...this will then generate a new key for you. If this doesn't work there is an option to speak to an agent. Tell the agent you have had to had to rebuild your laptop and are having trouble activating he will talk you through everything. I wouldn't buy word but if you have a genuine copy use it, its faster less resource. hungry than open office
