Are they after changing the road tax again?????

If you go to the part re road tax and imported used cars after July 1st it states that ALL used imported cars will be at the old tax rate. On this exact q&a when I checked it last month it stated that all imported cars after July wil be at the old road tax system EXCEPT cars over 225g co2 which would cost 2k and obviously would included turbo scoobys.
Does this now mean with the change again that we can import them after July and only get hit with the increase of the vrt but not hit with the 2k road tax, if I read it to the revised statement on that link, thats what it means. How many fcekin U turns have they made on this since Jan.
Has anyone heard this outside this website? Its good news it this is now tha case but its hard to know whats going on with all the u turns.

Yes i think it has changed i have a mate who is bringing in a
beautifull black EVO 6 but was in a mad rush to get her and the €€€€'s
before July ...................he has now been informed that there's no rush

ONLY NEW 2008 CARS IMPORTED WILL HAVE TO PAY €2,000 A YEAR TAX

Now this info was passed to me second hand but worth checking out

Sound Niall, that must be the case. I will ring tomorrow just to double check. He will get charged another 6% on vrt all right but I suppose its minor compared to 2k a year.
 
I hope this is right. Might be able to get me an S204 someday. :subaru:

Pretty sure it is the case.
The new taxation is applied to previously unregistered cars only (i.e. 2008 +). If they were registered abroad they are not liable for it.
 
Im going to ring on Monday to check this out, im selling me car below book price to change it before the July shight kicks in.

Thank fook for that, just have to take the hit on the vrt.Car i want will be 1500 more on the vrt but will still be only 590 to tax
