Attempted theft

Hi,
Has anyone experienced their door lock barrel being damaged in an attempted theft?

I have my Forester parked on the street directly outside my house and noticed the damage in the images below this evening. Have security cameras but car will obscure whoever did it plus it could have happened at any point over the last 5 days as haven't driven the car since Tuesday.

It doesn't make sense - surely you'd just break the window to get in?

Going to get a wheel lock in the morning. Any suggestions on a beefed up alarm system?

That's sh*t sorry to hear that now

Get one of thease tomorrow great deterent won't deter junkie scum but anyone in the know will just move onto another car

Jesus. That's mad.
I have a Clifford alarm. Some hate em. Proximity sensor and all. Gives a buzz when walking within 5 feet or something. Can be hooked up to dash am I believe so will start recording when proximity sensor picks up movement.
Bad thing is heavy wind or rain will set off the buzzer too

Ya, really not great. It would take about 4 - 5 hours to go through all the footage at 8x speed. I have a stack of crap sitting in it for the dump for the week - possibly attracted attention from some passing scumbag.

I have heard great things about disclok's - any non UK company sell them in Dublin? I'd prefer to give an Irish company the margin on it rather than Halfords.

From experience Heavy duty lock and chain best deterrent imo if you don't have alarm.and immobiliser in the foz, run chain from steering wheel under seat rail if possible

Thats a balls ,pricks,Looks like some half wit went at it with a screw driver

You can get a replacment barell new cheap enough
will have a different key I aassume not really up on that part but I think so

Part number = 57494FC000

new barell in and try and sort the door around it and should be all good

a few places advertising it

Over the years I have noticed foresters from that era with a black square plate around the door barell , I always assumed it was for UK imports or somethng for insurance, maybe its something they have fitted to avoid that , not sure.

Bit of a head melt, car will be inaccessible if the central locking goes and its going to be a bit of a job to get the new lock in and tidied up. Insurance will probably pay for it though.

Ghost alarm system do a tracker system too which is meant to be very good. Depending on what part of the country Dr car security does ghost alarms and works on a lot of high end stuff look him up on Instagram
