Attitude of other road users

Sunday Drivers
Excuse the rant that follows but I'm just wondering is it me or do other Subaru/modified car drivers experience the same.

Ever since I start driving my Impreza I feel like the attitude of other road users towards me has changed. For example if you flashed someone to pull out at a junction I find them a lot less thankful than when I drive any other cars. It feels like they're looking at you and thinking "bloody boy racers".

The trigger for going on this rant was I pulled into a garage during the week and stopped by the air/water bay, when I pulled in there was a Middle Aged woman trying to put air in her tyres... When I pulled in she gave one them "bloody boy racer" looks, anyhow I went in to the garage and came back out and seen she was struggling to operate the air so I kindly offered to do it for her.. When I was pumping the tyre I noticed that the tyre was completely bald to the point the steel inside the tyre was exposed. I obviously pointed this out to her and told her she would get penalty points if caught! It pissed me off though because these same people look at people driving cars like Imprezas etc and give out about the drivers yet there's not a hope in hell I would ever drive with tyres as bad as what we're on her car

Even driving on the M50 everyday you see it, these same drivers that would give out about modified cars are the ones driving like absolute maniacs weaving between lanes, tailgating etc.

Or maybe it's just the fact I'm still only young that I experience this attitude? I don't know!! Needed to get that off my chest lol!

Definitely a stigma with every car. I'm forever getting people coming against me when I have right of way or overtaking me for the sake of it just because they're behind an old car.

Doesn't bother me anymore tbh. I still get to where I'm going just as quick and they never get far ahead. All they've done is inconvenience themselves.

I won't put up with tailgating though. Or any form of driving by others that put me or my passengers at risk. Especially if the kids are in the car.

I often get a smokey jetta trying to race me etc. unwanted stuff and every time my partner takes the car she says she get all nice attention, I feel *** discriminated lol

Think it's just the way people are now .

I see it daily on the m50 . People rushing and tearing to get one car length further up the road .

I stay in Lane 1 and get where I'm going just as quick as the ones in a fierce hurry lol

People trying to race on the dual carriageway to get one car length ahead. People tailgating dangerously. I do notice other modified cars are extremely nice and thankful when I do let them out but the diesels are a different breed.

I see it in the Opel garage everyday. They are told that they need new tyres, won't purchase the tyres we advise and walk away like its a laugh.

It's ridiculous how dangerous people drive just to get somewhere a minute or two quicker! I think the problem also with these kind of drivers is that they're completely oblivious to the risks. I wonder how many of them have ever had to perform an emergency stop from 120km/h etc?

I think in general car enthusiasts are more aware of their surroundings and may handle these dangerous situations better? I know the there are obviously some ****heads driving fast cars that act stupid too!

Joys of it all I suppose, I get it too at times but sometimes you can play it to your advantage, there is many people who love the scoob and will let you out just to hear the noise and get a good look at it etc.
Then I still get the young guys trying to race me or kids asking you to rev the heads off her if your parked up/sitting in traffic. It's just something i've got used to now and doesn't bother me as it's near the only way i know now.

I now use the Honda daily but sure that has the modified look too so I'm not going to win over everyone anytime soon, it's been a while since i owned a "normal car".

I don't mind giving the kids a little rev, I like when the younger lads are genuinely interested. I had one lad talking to me about the boxer engine. He was very well read up lol.

Always get it in my DC5, people up my back bumper, overtaking etc just for the sake of it.

Its happened with all my cars but the worst one was when I had my 535d. I'd never get let out of anywhere unless it was another bmw driver, other drivers literally driving so close to my back bumper trying to make me go faster that they could probably tell what I had for breakfast, constantly lads in diesel accords, passats and audi's trying to race you.

When you your a young lad driving such a car you tend you get 2 different type of looks, look at that bmw w****r thinking his better than all of us or drug dealer.

I dont let it get to me I tend to sit back and watch or if someone is sitting on my rear bumper I will drop my speed by 5-10kms until they back off (works a treat)

I daily a 1.4 206 and being honest i find people drive like idiots around that, just this morning i had a suit in a 2014 TSi golf flying up a bus lane to undertake me on the malahide road, despite me having my indicator on to merge in where it was legal to do so. Also I'm finding i have people pulling out in front of me all the time.

Now maybe its because i only evening and weekend the scooby so I'm doing less miles but i get the feeling people give me a wider birth when I'm in the bug, a little more respectful. Now there could be a black car black tinted windows question about not pissing off the driver of such a car ha but the only hassle i get is from cyclists really. And as we know their not real people anyway :p (jokes)

I think when im in the bug I'm just plodding along enjoying the soundtrack and not really paying attention to the boo boys with their slammed rs4 tdi's. But also always knowing I have 298bhp and 307 footpounds to dispatch them if they irritate me lol

Don't get me started, I've posted plenty of these threads already.
I now have a 97 alfa 155 for work and a little driving here and there.
The difference in driving the scooby and this is night and day and I'm not driving either car any different.

People just don't the scooby full stop.

Jealousy is definitely 90% of the behaviour of other road users around the scooby.

The rest are usually young mothers that look at me like a potential paedophile and old people that recite a decade of the rosary every time I drive past.

Bought a 306 for a daily last week and the difference is unreal, no attraction to the A6/5-series/CC lads at all!

Ah chill out lads they are just jealous :smokin::smokin:

Maybe so ????????

I suppose you have to take the good with the bad, because it is nice when you get that approving nod off someone who appreciates these cars. Or when a group of young lads hear it coming down the road!

I've had a couple of work colleagues in the car a few times going for lunch or whatever, who would normally give me a bit of stick over driving the scooby. It's pretty funny though when you put the foot down, they get a real kick out of it and it shuts them up with the boy racer comments for a while

Worst people on the road after cyclists/taxi/bus drivers ?

For me it's mothers on the school run in an mpv they think gives them the right of way over everything else on the road . Speed limits traffic lights and which side of the road they should be on do not apply for them .

My Opinion

Fook em there just Boring arseholes unless you join everyone in there misery and also have a Horrible transportation box then they don't like it.

In the UK everyone loves unique cars.

Unless ur in a Deizel that costs 190 a year to tax here ur a weirdo.

I love the reaction to the Flat 4 two figures to all the Sheep in there boring cars.
