Just looking at the website there now, whats the story with the IQ maps, what differences apart from lane assist does it have over the old maps?
 
IQ routes works off historical traffic data,, So the TomTom will give you the fastest route according to the day and time of day. so at 8am on monday if your route takes you past a school or busy street it may take you a faster route according to the time. but the same route @ 3 am will be different again. its all about actual average road speeds...

Just take it that these new TomTom's are amazing in comparison to the old one's full on mind blowing; The unit that TomTom offered to ISDC is the XL IQ Routes Edition Europe, there getting me a price now..

Always used Garmin myself... What are TomTom like in comparison?

have tomtom 1 V2 with western europe.

I also have the map for us and canada, would that map work in the xl ?

@ 20vbzr,, TomTom are Considered a slightly higher end product regarding build quality, they rarely come back, also we have 4 map updates a year BECAUSE we own Tele Atlas the mapping company, we are going to give you 1 year's free map's, so 4 maps,, and befor anyone asks €9.95 per map update, but you there is no obligation to update..

@ Mack ,, Your maps will not work on this tomtom.. what you get on the tomtom when you buy is what you got..
there is a top of the range Go unit which will work with your maps because it has a SD slot.
