bug eye prodrive

hey everyone... just a question i have on the bug eye model.. one of my friends has one and i drove it at the weekend... i wasn't impressed with the performance.. he says it is a prodive..i was wonderin if there would be any way of knowing by lookin at the engine or chassis number to figure out what model it is?? what bhp should a prodrive be??? regards dave.. :subaru:

There is the Pro Drive style chassie number JF1 the normal Bugeye is JFi

so there would no difference in bhp in the normal style and prodrive style?? its just the appearance of the car.. thanks

Hey Blackscooby,

Im not an expert on this but i thought the Prodrive model came with the PPP fitted.
If so that would explain the loss of power as you must run that on SUL which we don't have.

If that's not the case , a faulty MAF or Lamda sensor or something similar would cause the car to
be down on power.

Niall.

Tell him to run it on E5!

Mine is running great on that! Better then the other stuff on sale here! :subaru:

hey all, i was lookin at my friends prodrive style today and the chassis number is GDB 002932, does this sound familar to anyone?? :ponder:  :subaru:

Thats not the chassis number.

The Chassis Number should be GDB followed by letters and numbers.

Thats the VIN number you posted.

Sorry about that!

It's just that's what they used to tell it was a prodrive model in the VRT office!

The first three letters of the Vin number is what they I.D'ed mine with!

On the VRT site even for a pro drive model it reads "STI ProDrive (JFI) 04DR(1994cc)" and for a standard STI it reads "STI JF1 04DR(1994cc)

So that's how I'd do it!

My model code on my car is GDB followed by letters alright!

hey lads, this is wierd, were would da chassis number be stamped on da car??? :ponder: i am a bit concerned with this car as well because the reg on it is 00, was da bug eye pro drive style even made that early?? thanks for da help with this

Not to sure about the Jap model Pro-Drive style but the TypeUK Pro-Drive Style was launched in November 2001!

The Japs normally come out a bit earlier but as I said not sure about their date!

There are 00 reg Bugs though! Mostly Demo cars that garages got in in December 00. Hope this helps!

Failing that where are you from and I'll have a look at it if your close!

on da bulk head under da windscreen this is were i got da number i posted from.. which is usually were da chassis number is on most cars..

Look at this picture carefully. You can see the VIN number GC8-???????. Then under that to the left is the Chassis number/Applied Model GC8C4ED. Thats where you need to look for your particular Chassis Number.
