Hi All,i'm a newbie looking for some information.I am going to look at possibly my first scooby but no nothing about them.Information i have is its a 97 uk model (registered september 97) impreza 2000 wagon 2.0 turbo.what i would like to know is.... Would this be a wrx or sti or different....How would i tell...What is the standard bhp...What model(fj/ej20 etc) Overall opinions on the 2000 wagon and lastly...Is there any thing i should look out for.Sorry for all the questions but i want to have an idea. Thanks

In japan the early modells where called wrx and in europe they where called the impreza 2000.

The WRX was launched in Europe (UK and Switzerland initially) in 1995 and badged "Impreza Turbo 2000". Models had significantly less power than their Japanese counterparts, developing 208PS at 6000rpm, this was to compensate for the lower grade fuel (95RON) and the stricter emissions and noise standards in Europe. The facelifted Impreza Turbo of 1997 retained its standard 208BHP (now achieved at 5600rpm) and its 214lbft of torque was now more accessible with peak power at 4000rpm.

You should look for rust on the brake lines and evrything else that would come in contact with the salt that's put on English roads during their cold month's! Other then that that it has a service history and that the belts where done when needed and the usual stuff like was it ever crashed and so on!

Hope this helps. :subaru:

welcome along mate.

gc8 for the classic model.

uk models are mapped for the 95 fuel from factory so it wont need a remap if you dont add any serious mods unlike a jap import where it would need one even if kept standard to keep it running safe.

Welcome to the club
From what i understand its a uk spec car,so its basically a wrx,the uk never made sti till later models....(stand to be corrected)
Basically uk cars are lower in bhp,but have the advantage if running on our crap fuel...as mentioned...
To look out for listen for turbo noises, check for service history, the usual things you would look out for when buying a car.
Options on a wagon are good they are as quick as an impreza, and you can do all the same mods to a wagon as ya do on a impreza, both same engines, gearbox etc etc.....
If the car is well looked after go for it,you wont be sorry.... :subaru: :subaru:
