car alarms?????????????

northdublin

Petrolheads
spent all day friday ringing around places tryin to get an alarm.......cause after last friday night im eager to get one. however every place i rang wouldnt sell me the alarm over the counter, but insisted they fit it. now maybe im a bit daft but i want to fit it myself for reasons that if it goes wrong down the road ill be able to fix it myself as ill know where everything is and i know these fitters will come out to your job and fit it but they dont come out to your job if something goes wrong, you have to go to them if its still in warenty.
so apart from ebay is there anywhere that will sell me a semi decent alarm over the counter so i can fit it myself.
to name a few places i tried...as follows
cartronix
icetronix
denis mahonys
artane autos
maplins
halfords
and a host of other places.........am i the only dipstick that wants to fit his own alarm??????????

mds in ballyfermot, top notch. ask for peter or Brendan.

Ask about self install, but tbh, i would go the route of letting a professional do the install.

tell them Ray sent yah.

shelf life of the average alarm is only 3 years
there is no warranty if u fit it urself as your not a professional installer
recommend gettin a cobra or clifford or toad alarm(few other names escape my mind now).....
you get what u pay for with alarms as you should know..
good luck

Brendan in MDS, highly recommend him. lifetime guarantee on the alarm. really tidy install. TBH if you wanted to fit a high end clifford system yourself(unless your an electrician) you would have a mammoth task in front of you. and since your not a qualified, approved installer, i think that voids most warranties.

thanks for the replies lads, ied have a fairly good technical background and ied enjoy fitting it as the more i know about my car the happier ied be. ive heard of the usual brands but a few companys fit alarms called autopage and med systems........never heard of these, has anyone else heard of them?.

Peter in MDS fitted mine, only took about 3 hours foreverything and came to the door. Havent had any problems with it except the 1´s i caused myself

dont no what alarms take 2 days to fit i fitted that hpa in 2 hours and that includes soldering all the wires all it is is bat power, ignition live, earth, 6 wires for central locking 2 wires for immob and 2 for the siren,2 ultrasonics and 2 coder/led
