Just curious lads as to what you all use (apart from alarms, etc) when you leave your car alone. Are those steering locks in Halfords any use or would you be better of with a chain and a good lock?

I have alarm & immobiliser, but also have stoplok pro on my steering wheel, probably not the best lock on the market but if they want the car badly enough they're gonna take it anyway, just hope that the nuisance a steering lock causes them would put them off.
And easy to store too, slips under the drivers seat from behind.

where did you get the stoplok brian????
is it universal or for a certain wheel size???

Bought it in a motor factors years ago mate, just did a quick google search there and noticed they don't seem to be available any more :ponder:

Stoplok do a whole range of steering locks & the pro was the best at the time, just a beefed up version of their normal steering locks.

From memory too they do a disclok which completely covers your wheel, I think they were about the best steering locks available, but they are bulky.

You might consider one of those bolt thingies that go on the side of your gearbox & lock your car in first gear

use a chain and a lock, wrap the whole thing round the wheel and seat no one will touch it!!!!

those steering wheel locks aren worth a sh*t, to be honest, they just pull off!!

Sti Garda :smokin:

tbh those steerin locks dont do much i had 1 in my integra before it actually helped them break the steerin lock a good aul lock and chain would be the best job

but sure dont they just use a bolt cutters to cut the wheel and slip the chain off???

thats possible but every little deterrent helps. At the end of the day no car is unstealable . You can only do your best to put the bastards off trying. If they really want it they will get it somehow.

Ive a clifford alarm and if im feeling i bit worried about the car il wrap a chain around the wheel. The best ive seen is 555-Scoobys pedal clamp.

Ive a big silver disc lock.
Its thatchman approved and fits tightly round the steering wheel like a big dish.
Cost about 150euro.
Depending on wheel size it may be loose. Its perfect on impreza but was loose on smaller Glanza steering wheel.
On the other hand you could buy a quick release steering boss and remove wheel completly :subaru:

I did that with my old car. I kept the wheel under my bed at night. But I found caring a steering wheel around while doing the shopping abit of a hindrance hahaha

hard to beat my car in first, then my wifes car second and my company van in third...thats threes sets of keys and a fu*k-off bull mastif in the porch....
come on thieves if you think your hard enough
:shoot: :shoot: :shoot: :shoot: :hang: :hang:

clifford cat 1 with proximity sensor, neighbour has cctv which covers my car, oh and i sleep with a gloch 9 under my pillow!

Them big disc locks that cover the wheel are not bad pain in the hole to take off with the keys never mind without them.
Me Dad had a peddle lock it was hard to see it the little c*unt would be in the car before they seen it but at least they cant drive away.
Get as much on the car as you can it all helps
Also i have a bar at the back of the car this also helps

i have a bar lock that goes across the top..you'd never break it...it locks against the wind screen so you cant use it to snap the steering lock...and a chain tha wraps around the bottom half so every section of the wheel would have to be cut..also has an auto page alarm if anyone fcuks with your car your pager beeps and wakes... you get a chance to catch the cnut in the act with harry the hatchet who sleeps beside me
