Car Tracking System

Just wondering if any of you (or indeed anyone you know) would be interested in getting car tracking devices fitted. A guy I work with has a company that supply them to companies for fleet management, but they are about to start selling to private individuals. You can track the cars location by simply logging on to their site. I don't have the costs from him yet, but if you're interested PM me and I'll sort them out.

As soon as I have pricing I will post them, or have them register as a trader. It looks like a good system and I will more than likely get one fitted to my car and my husbands car soon.

Would be interested in hearing prices - both for fitting & ongoing costs. These things are usually transferable from car to car so buy once & have it for life.

Also would like to know are they gps based or mobile phone signal.

He will send me the pricing over the weekend, so I'll upload it as soon as I know. From what I know there is a one-off fee for hardware and installation, and then a monthly fee based upon the frequency you require the position of your updated.

No idea what this service normally costs in the UK or elsewhere, so can't say if this company is reasonable or not, but then having your car stolen and not recovered isn't either, and most of the time the insurance only pay for the forecourt value of the car and you get nothing back for all the mods. At least with a tracking system you would be able to let the cops know exactly where the car is as soon as you notice it missing.
 
Lads this is an excellent idea, but I'd say the details are probably best kept to the members section. Anyone could be surfing the open forums so the effectiveness of anything that keeps our motors safe should not be weakened by letting scumbags in on what kind of obstacles they are up against. Just a suggestion...
