I bought a car in Newcastle and as I was trying to book flight and ferry I started wondering I could get a trailer to bring it over , depending the costs. What do You think it would cost and could You recommend someone?
THX for any advice
 
Personally I would like to take a trailer over myself and come back. I'd be too exited to wait for it on a truck. Adds to the excitement of the overall purchase.
 
I am after buying a ford transit custom sport on Leeds and it's costing me €245 euro with NVD car transport limited to collect it there and drop it at my door
 
I've driven sligo to Newcastle a few times now and it's not a bad run 10 hours door to door including ferry etc, not sure where in westmeath you are but it's Def workable, I go on the Belfast to Cairnryan ferry and then cut across Scotland much quicker than going through holyhead
 
afaik nvd no longer provide uk collection service as i tried them when i was looking my car shipped to the uk,when i seen the above price i rang for a quote and they told me again they no longer provide the service are u goin tru a dealer tom?
 
Last car I got lifted cost 300 cash but I heard he is now charging over 500 there is crowd will get them to Strabane for about 250 sterling but then you would have to collect there.
 
thats a good one all right mine is deffinatly 1000% coming over with NVD I rang and checked it out after hearing that and they are deffinatly bringing her over they have a huge depot in the U.K. As well
 
when i called few months ago they told me they no longer offer the serivce to drop or collect cars in the uk they referred me to eirtrans who i got to drop it over they will be bringing it back also so maybe its dealer related that the wont do it for private people not in the trade
 
Could be to do with commercial vehicles maybe or something your man Brian in d.g mc cardels in Monaghan I think still does it as well collected a few yolks for us here
 
Thx for all the inputs. It's an electric car so I am a little concerned how much time I'll spend at the fast chargers. Get someone to transport it wouldn't be a lot more expensive than flying over and the ferry back but I am still between two minds because I prefere to see the car before paying the full price for it.

How long does it go with single charge?
Most of them are around 100km are they?
I wouldn't be risking driving around to look for a charge point somewhere in uk in area l dont know. Better off to get it delivered to your door.
 
There must be something seriously wrong with My accent. So far the best quote I got is € 600 door to door from Newcastle to Athlone.

thats about right- i got a similair quote to bring a car from clare to uk on a single car transporter- door to door
