Central heating experts?

Hi lads i know i discussed this on here months before, but i need to get someone out to look at my central heating system and service the boiler. 2 of the motorised valves need to be replaced , which i could do myself but heating is on the blink and will only come on for an hour before it shuts off and wont come back on, hot water isnt an issue, seems to be affecting the radiators only . Anyway if anyone on here is qualified in the above area's and could do it for me fairly soon as a nixer, let me know. My girlfriend is at home sick and she does be freezing at home these days. Would prefer to give the business to someone on here or if anyone has any good recommendations let me know! based in Dublin, Cheers

Dan

sound thanks, is he certified to service boilers? just making sure

Yeah proper plumber , Only plumber myself and my Father have allowed near any site we had in about 10+ years

all gas qualified lads and decent 2 ,

they work around Dublin? Sens me on his details and if no one else on her can help me out ill give them a call!

that doesnt need a service thermostat is gone .defo most people think its water pressure do it your self simple.

i have been troubleshooting this the last year! where is the thermostat? are you talking about the one on the water tank in the hot press or like the room thermostat thingy on the wall?!

Your a better man than me if you know that from whats been said, there could be several reasons for that problem.

your right i am a better man, joking , he said his getting hot water out of taps rules out pump, also means water pressure is fine, if pc board was gone there would be no activate at the boiler and would constantly click when turning on the heating ,so that leads use to the thermostat which should be set to one in the summer 5 in the winter.unless all rad valves are gone its the thermostat, sorry yes its the one on the wall for controlling room temp .if you get stuck badly or dont get sorted i work around dublin ,off the tools now but if yeah want me to have a look its no problem.

can i replace the thermostat myself, if i managed to get a new one? i need to replace the 2 motorised valves already since i broke the manual -> auto sliders on them, rad circuit valve is left manually opened( as in motor ain't attached to valve anymore!) 24/7 since the motor on that valve doesnt open the valve all the way when on auto.

That all made sense in my head anyway! The joys of first time home ownership! If it was a computer or server or datacemter i could fix it no bother. Maybe i should buy a "central heating for dummies" book!

now im not that stupid! even when left on constant it wont stay on fulltime, think its hitting a certain temperature and knocking off and wont come back on

yeah its hitting the temp thats way it wont come back on,you would probably be better off with a sparks then a plumber and get them to change the theromstat. if your stuck i will do it for yeah, but if yeah have basic electrical skills yeah can do it your self, matter of interest is it a combi boiler, and does it have a high limit switch

not sure what you mean by combi boiler? Its an apartment i live in,Potterton gas boiler in the kitchen. My brother in law is an electrician and my dad is the jack of all trades so im sure either of them could help me swap it, but thanks for your offer, if you need any computer related problems sorted we could work out a deal! Is the thermostat itself expensive to buy? Was going to buy the motorised valves tomorrow so might try pick thermostat up too if its not too expensive

Combi boiler will be larger than standard as it stores the water aswell, so if u have a cylinder its not a combi

dan i have a mate that works in davies if u want me to get you a price on any parts

yeah there cheap enough if you go to a suppilers ,arcon, chadwicks any of the main suppliers most of the lads will tell you the best to get .they come in all shapes and sizes and different features cheap enough, yeah cheers for the offer if yeah get stuck give us a shout.
