Cheap new laptop

Our laptop is starting to play up so on the look out for a new one.

Any recommendations? Realistically all we need is Microsoft office for herself to work on so don't need it to have the power to control NASA!

Where should I look? Amazon good for buying these?

Is there any need for Windows 7 or is that pretty much standard on all new laptops now? I'm quite a technophobe but know that Vista was a pile of sh1te so won't be getting that. Maybe XP?

And how easy is it to transfer all content from the existing laptop to a new one. We've nearly 60 gig on existing laptop with itunes library etc.

Why not do some upgrades to your current laptop? Add more RAM, bigger hard drive maybe? All would cost under 100 quid. Give it a good clean up and it'll running like new again

See I told you I was a technophobe

Although there is alot of confidential info stored on it (missus is an accountant) so I can't see her being too impressed with dropping it in somewhere :wall:

Will sound her out though

I'd drop out and do the upgrades in your house no bother man, you's an keep an eye on me lol

As above Brian, if its really old it probably won't be worth upgrading. Reply to my PM there anyway and I'll look into it

Steve.

I've had just about enough of you, no pictures of my car last week & now this :angry1:

Out of curiousity, just walked past your building 10 mins ago & an old couple sitting in reception....are you having a "bring your parents to work" day

I am suffering kind of same problem and was thinking about clean up and RAM upgrade as well but was told hard to find RAM to suit My laptop as it is old standard. Not sure how it's called-something about the pins- but it's a 5 years old fujitsu siemens amilo L1310G. If anyone know where to source some extra RAM for it (512 currently on 2 slots so would need 512X2) I would realy appreciate! Apart from that it's still a great computer for My needs but now slow like a granny.
Also wanted to mention I love Vindows7 on My other PC and heard that it doesn't eat too mutch more than XP.Defenetly less than crap vista
