Hi Folks, forgive me for posting this on the scooby site.

Just a short post guys to ask the above question. Friend of mine has bought a 97 civic Type-R with an integra type-R engine. Now the old owner said there was 3000km's on this engine after rebuild .... which is BullS**t but it is burning oil like a new avensis....! Is this ok cause I heard they aint suppose to burn any at all....?

Cheers Folks

seals in the v-tech set up....

so more likely rebuild translated into high mileage engine swap..............

valve stem oil seals are usually what start to give up after good mileage in a v-tech, maybe they need to be done, and it probably is bullshit about the low mileage

is it a white 97 one with body kit by any chance....
they do burn oil or at least the 4 or 5 i service need top-ups regular between services....
:ponder2: :ponder2:

Thanks lads for the info, I did think that they are not suppose to use any oil at all, but its a white 97 LS **** reg with black carbon fibre splitter kit and he bought it in Carlow, fairly rough to be honest, If i was in a market for one def wouldnt have give it a second glance!
Eh the guy maintained it had 220BHP and gave him a RR print out from some crowd down that dirrection who 'Set It Up'! But get this, he brought it home and any other std Civic type-r passed him no bother, even with that integra engine! Anyway enough about them yokes, back to scoobies and real performance!

Cheers

Paddy

every v tech honda i've ever seen including a friends irish integra type r with 40k and full honda history burnt at least a litre per 1000 miles. wouldn't panic unless it is drinkin it or smokey at idle etc.

Awh dead on lads no bother, I think the guy is in troble cause he was told to check it every 2-3 weeks!

Thanks for the chat folks
Paddy
