Alright lads, i've been givin the option too do my thesis on whatever i want, so first thing's first, I have a few idea's and want to try and base it on a subaru,
I was thinking aero dynamics, or mab the braking system, have any of ye got an idea. I wanna do it on somethin i have an interest in so i will do as good a job i can.
Cheers
john

do it on anti lag,,or not just anti lag,the whole turbo set up,its interesting even to some1 that hasn't an interest in cars

Been there, done that! Very interesting alright

Whats the general brief you've been given? Are you talking about examining the one of the systems in subaru and just reporting back your findings or is the idea to research something and examine ways to make it better(either practical or theoretical)

I did my thesis on the deep drawing metal forming process, I had to design and build my own equipment and use 3-D modelling finite element analysis to try and accurately predict the behaviour of the metal through the process.

What kind of budget do you have?

Thats the one robbie,
I was lookin at the aero dynamics on the leggy, firstly the scoop, not big enough for drawing in air at high speeds, and they done nothin about it for the new shapes so thats one of my idea's,
College supply all he diagnostic tools, Aerodynamic simulators, and the like,

Use something unquie to subaru like the flat 4 or manual dccd

This could be very interesting because Gearing, differentials, and bearings is a big part of one of my subjects, so i'd have all the mathametical theorms, Because i'd have too prove everythin i do Mathamatically and annilatically. (Sorry bout spelling)[quote author=sti 9029 link=topic=18100.msg222209#msg222209 date=1253269076]

How do you go about anti lag??? I've a basic understanding of it. No cars down here with it that i can run a few tests with.

my understanding of it is very basic too so i'd rahther let some1 else explain it for fear i'd make a fool of myself!!

To be able to analise the aerodynamics of the B4 and simulate what happens at high speed you would need to first accurately model the bonnet and scoop which would be near on impossible unless you got the original CAD work from subaru. Then you transfer the model into one of the simulators and can analise the effects of different conditions. What software are they using?

I'd just have too use the dimensions of my own car and scale them, I't doen't have too be a hundred per cent replica, but as close as i can make it,
I'd personally do it up in solid works, as it would probally be the easier too do it on.
The aerodynamics software is Aeroflow or somethin like that, i've only done a small brief as of yet so i'm not a hundred percent, but its ment too be accurate as if the car was in a wind tunnel.
As said if that is actually too hard too design, i'd look into ani-lag on a research project instead, or else the braking system , or as dave said the flat 4 and dccd.
