Heading down to Cork over the bank holiday weekend and might bring the SpecC. Any suggestions on a route or two? Something nice to kill a couple hours and grab a spot of lunch before heading back to the big smoke on the Monday. Google maps welcome! :D

John im working in west cork in castletownbere. Roads are tight narrow and bumpy and some serious scenery! But if you do decide to head as far as castletownbere you can drive the Healy Pass. Famous rally stage. Brought the Impreza up there a couple of weeks ago and its well worth the trip. Approx 1.5 hour from Cork city.

I'd love to do the Healy Pass. Might try squeeze it in on the Sunday. Wont get to it on the Monday simply because I don't want to trek that far in, then have the 90+ mins back before I'm on the road home to Dublin which will be about 3 hours. So don't fancy 6+ hours in the car.

Healy Pass, Molls Gap or Gap of Dunloe will all offer beautiful scenery plus for me the most enjoyable roads behind the wheel, you'll end up the day with a smile on your face. Easy to get two of them done on the day with Kemmare, Glengarrif or Killarney offering many options for grub along the route.

If you want to keep it closer, coast roads in between Timoleague - Clonakilty - Rosscarbery include most famous West Cork Rally stages with nice scenary as well, but a bit more of navigation required.

For the jazz festival, enjoy the gigs during afternoon/evening on Saturday, it gets extremely packed after!

Pic of my last visit of Healy Pass. Will be back there soon.

Bring about ?400 for gogo juice .

Was going to take the hawk to Newcastle west in limerick yesterday and remembered how much juice I was going to use so took the daesel instead

Did the Healy pass in old Astravan about 12 years ago , fierce good on daysul

I'm down in Cork that often for work you think I'd take a scenic route every now and then.

"The Vee" is an alright spot, more known for one corner suitable for rwd but there's good fun roads around that area to explore about

Thanks lads. Plan is to head down Sunday and do The Vee on the way down. Settle in for the night then on Monday do Carrigaline - Kinsale - Timoleague - Clonakilty - Rosscarberry. Stopping for lunch somewhere in between and then back to Dublin.

Fastnet Rally is on in Skibbereen this weekend so you wouldn't be too far from it on Sunday.

One of the best driving loops I have to say is the Saturday loop of the Rally of The Lakes which is 95% in Cork!
Starting in Lauragh, Kerry - Healy Pass - Ardigole, Cork.
Then onto Casletownbare - Cahermore - Allihies which is roughly the 'Cod's Head' stage.
Then onto Eyeries - Ardgroom which is roughly the 'Ardgroom' stage.
