Octane Boostaholics
As she is away on holidays I thought I would do something nice and surprise her with a sparkling car when she comes back. As I have the week off I decided today was a good of day as any.
This was my first silver car I have detailed. I anticipated it would be hard to make the silver paint like glass compared to my artic blue integra.
Here it is before
As you can see from the above the paint is quiet flat with no real reflection of the surroundings.
I got ready
2 bucket wash, hand held sprayer, wool mitt, watering can, wheel brushes
After washing the car twice to make sure it was clean. I went around removing the tar on the lower half of the car. Then wash again. Went at the car with a clay bar next and watered down quick detailer to provide lubrication. The picture below is just from half the bonnet so i had my work cut out for me
Once the claying was complete and the paint was smooth it was washed again and dried prior to polishing and waxing.
1 coat of wax was applied and buffed off followed by a layer of Autoglym hd wax and to finish it off I use ODK glamour show wax. I find these 2 waxes complement each other perfectly.
Here are the products used
It took 4 hours to do all the above by hand and have to say I am very pleased with the finish.
Think I may need to give machine polishing a go as I dont think I have reached the limits of what I can achieve with my hands
