Just had to say that the Brakes on my 03STI need replacing and I was talking to Dave and his needed doing to, so i started shopping around, these where the cheapest three Garages, C&R where over E1100 per car, no discount given. Finnagans Garage Ballymahon where cheaper leaving off the 10% handling charge and giving a 10% discount because of there being two cars at E874 per car, but Donnellys where the cheapest of all at just over E730 after changing there sterling figure, their giving the 10% discount for being a club member and asked that I let you all know, there even giving us a car so we can knock about the city when their working on the cars. Booked in for Saturday too, so no need to take time off work. Another great advantage of being a club member shown. :subaru:

Brembo, I looked into after market ones to but not much in the differance in price. So i'll stick with the subaru ones.

hi eric what exactly are you talking about are you lookin to get bigger brakes or just gettin pads and disks done.
what brakes are on your car?are they subaru 4pots or brembos?

You have to be joking right ??

The price of the standard brembo pads etc came down by nearly half over a year ago !!

Better aftermarket discs and pads can also be had for just slightly more than the std stuff.

Bit dear alright............ Sure ye coulda got ferrodo ds2500 pads and any decent disc for that money..

EBC, Mintex, Ferodo, in a proper compund are miles better than standard Subaru pads. I have fitted nearly 100 set's od EBC Red's to Impreza's Lagecy' and EVO's etc. Customers alway's have a very positive response. 134.25 + VAT. I believe that the Mintex and Ferodo of similar compound are equally priced AFAIK. Any trader or workshop on here would give any menber 10% fairly handy. I'm not trying to sell pads on this thread, just giving info.

100's LOL that's a big claim.....these pads must surely have a very short life span then and not be very good value for money ???? seeing that the std brembo pads last at least 20,000 very hard use which would take most people doing average mileage maybe 2years to cover !!

Well like i have said in an earlier posting some time ago, you said 730 E, well i cud ave got ya a complete set of uprated ebc discs with red pads for around 400 quid, sterling, plus postage to your door. Now just to make this clear, thats pair of front discs, with pads, and a pair of rear discs with pads, red stuff pads..

but unfortunatley these are only for the rally marshal club members....... but im sure i cud say they are for me....

In reply to Dirk. I said nearly 100 set's, not 100's. This pad fits many different application's, and have been selling EBC (among others) in Ireland for 4 years now.

John

Dirk as im sure you probarly have guessed johnny99
works with a lot of cars and is a busy guy. :D

But it is a good point, i switched from Standard Subaru disc's and pads 4 pots front , 2pot rear.
and went with mintex all round, bigger dsic's ,better pads , better brake fluid.

Now i would never go back as Mintex are supperior in braking in comparisson
to what i had but i will change pad's every 6 - 9 months.

Niall.

Thanks for all the reponces to this post, the reason i'm going to stick with original brembo pads is that they have a good life span and i'm not in a position to experiment with other types as of yet, if brembo pads have come down in price someone forgot to tell the Irish dealers, As i said cheapest finnagans Garage, dearest c&r over 1100 of the one I check I wouldn't even think about checking hb dennis. I have her booked in for saturday so i'm going to go with that for now, if anyone has had anthing else done to there 01 - 07, have a chat with me at the AGM and let me know what you got done and how the brakes are proforming, I like the brakes on the car and would being honest would be afraid to mess with them to much for fear of fucking the way she handles up. Thanks again. :subaru:

Hey Eric,
Enjoy the run up  :p :p
and don't forget to run those new pads
in before you hit 3 figures on the way home
:subaru:

Niall.

By the way lads I checked out the price of other makes of pabs just out of interest and theirs no differance, ceramic ones cost 400 sterling and forado I think tyheir called are even more expenssive, and that's not even fitting them.

yes but what do dont seem to be twigging is the fact your paying the same money for bog standard pads when you could be buying uprated for that money. you can get standard pads that are just as good as the genuine subaru ones for 1/3 of that price.

George

I understand that they are up Rated but do they last as long as the standard ones or would i just be spending more money in a short time by getting up rated ones?
