Driving Test

Hey guys ive got my driving test on friday (after a year of waiting) so i was wondering if i should do it in my Subaru or my girlfriends Ford Ka, now i know im a much better driver in the Subaru but its just the whole look of the car, Boost clocks etc. I dont have a after market exhast fitted so it doesnt sound like a complete monster. Also i havent got the nct on the car (dont know if driving instructer takes that into account for u to be able to use ur car, but neither has my girlfriends)

I plan on doing the pre test etc so il ask the guy doing that with me also has he's a retired tester, any advice would b welcome.

When I did my test 5 years ago. I rented the instuctor's car for the test instead of doing it in my impreza :p
 
I know im a better driver in my imprezza i just dont want to give the guy the wrong impression of me. U know what they say about first impressions.
 
to be honest he is assessing your driving NOT what your driving. If you can get into the Impreza and do a faultless test then he has no reason to fail you.

I also think you will need a valid NCT to do the test. I cant be sure because I did my test before the NCT was brought in. Something tells me the car you choose to do the test in has to be proven road worthy.
 
i done it in my impreza, your man didnt care a bit, dint reflect in my driving at all and i past with flying colours
 
Yeah worryed about the nct thing, my girlfriends isnt nct either as theres a long waiting list to get it done.
 
he take you if its not nct'd, need to be fully legal, taxed, insured and nct'd and also you need to have tyres with in the legal 1.6 mm thread depth
 
Ya do cause if you fail (which you wont) you'll always be wondering was it cause of the car and you'll have to wait months again for another test. :subaru:
 
I have to pass, because the waiting list is a joke. I could do it in Wales but thats just hassle getting my provisanl etc. Once i do pass im (fingers crossed) im gonna swap my irish for a uk anyway. :)
 
My brothers girlfriend did her's in his evo and she was saying that she failed as soon as he saw the car, i'd go with the ka if i was you, he'll think your a girls and you'll be in with a better chance, Drive the ka around for the rest of the week to get used to it, Best of luck with the test.
 
Definitly need the NCT. Its 100e for the Irish School of Motoring car for the test. They give you a quick lesson before the test.
I had my Impreza and a Toyota Levin aswell at the time and was advised by numerous instructors to use a "normal" car! They obviously won't admit to failing you coz of the type of car but it does go against you. Depends on your age too as in if you are that bit older they won't be phased by the car you drive but if you fall into the age group (as I do :oops:) that they may reguard you as a boy racer it will strongly go against you. Very unfair :angry: , but thats life... :whistle:
 
Looks like il b doing it in a Ford Mondao, rang ISM and they have none for rent when im doing the test. Gonna do a few pre test first, got my first tomorrow so hopefully i wont have learnt myself to many bad habits.
