I've just climaxed in my Y fronts

I want one :subaru:

Interestingly, it bombed in their car of the year 2006. All of the reviewers preferred the Evo 9 FQ 360 over it and it took a very early shower.

I think they were all scared of it, they kept saying it was too fast, bit odd for a performance car magazine.

Personally I reckon Litchfield himself might have blown it, I got the distinct impression reading the review that the thing was set up for the test and the reviewers were overwhelmed by its uncompromising and uninvolving nature.

It's either that or I'm in denial having pretty much decided I'm buying one next, once the residuals are in someway realistic. Even the 04 versions are stupid money at the minute.

Is this the review from EVO you are talking about Oisin?

Its amazing to see the Type 25's times so close to the world's fastest cars. I didn't see any mention of the EVO ix Fq 360 :ponder: Have you a link to the article you are referring to?

I got my new TT on Friday and what a car. It is some machine cross country when the roads are dry but as expected it cant put down the 200 bhp in the wet even with the 245 40 ZR 18 Bridgestone Potenzas I upgraded to. In the dry it is fantastic fun and the steering and brakes are just stunning. The in gear acceleration is a revelation for anyone used to driving Imprezas. The throttle response is instantaneous as the 2.0 TFSI engine runs at over 2 bar of boost and max torque is reached at 1,800 rpms and stays there all the way to 5,000 rpms. In a lot of ways it feels like a turbo with all their instant torque in the mid range combined with a petrol engined high rpm ceiling. The 37 mpg is putting a smile on my face too.

Am I sorry I changed? Well, when I saw the latest pics of the "new" Impreza I have to admint I'm not a bit sorry but I wont be driving a 2 door 2 seater sports car forever so I will be back for an Impreza at some stage. I just hope it looks as sexy as the new Dark Side X and still has the addictive Scooby rumble.

No, it wasn't that article, it was their car of the year feature in December I was talking about. I'm a subscriber so I get the blacked out porn delivery once a month. Got it today actually, and there's an interesting article about the new STI RA-R which they like dsepite the test car being in the most hideous shade of yellow I've ever seen.

They also had an interesting article on running in new engines that clearly you didn't read, 5000 RPM indeed!

Actually, they were making the point that new engines aren't anywhere near as vulnerable as they used to be with modern engineering being so precise and bits actually fitting together correctly. Do you have the whole run it in and bring it back after 1000 miles thing going on or are you good to go?

Never bought a new car and am therefore a stranger to such luxury.

Best of luck with it, I assume I'll see you in Mondello in it next time out. (Although if you pass me in it I really will have to get rid of the Evo).

Give us a write up on it when you've had it a while, particularly if you decide you don't like it, make us all feel better.

Not only is the colour a bit peculiar but I think the car just looks odd without the rear wing  :dunno:

Oisin, I asked the guys in the garage about running it in and they said it's not required anymore. I'll still take it easy enough for the first 1,000 km just to be sure and to bed the tyres in nicely. I'll post a new topic about my experiences with it then. As far as I can tell so far she would murder my wrx around Mondello especially as she has far less understeer, fantastic brakes and razor sharp steering. Mondello is a handling circuit but on a Power Circuit my wrx would catch her up on the straights. I'm waiting for the roads to dry out a bit before taking her on my Trim to Dublin test track!

Overall, I'm delighted with it so far and if I was to pick one area where I am most impressed, it would have to be the instant response of the engine in ANY gear. It is often very difficult to guess what gear you are in, such is the engines instant pulling power in any gear. I have often been in "4th" and put the foot down and off she flys only to find I'm actually in 6th!

Apparently the instant torque is made possible by Audi's patented FSi technology which uses petrol direct injection and allows the use of very high compression for a turbocharged engine. She has peak boost of 25.5 PSI, even though the turbo is quite small. This eliminates the turbo lag completely and I mean COMPLETELY! The same engine in the new S3 produces a little more power than the 2.0 STI's but max torque is reached much, much earlier. I read recently that petrol direct injection combined with turbocharging was the future of petrol engines as it yields more power, better fuel economy and lower emissions. For all Scooby drivers I'm sure when you read that last sentence you read "...yields more POWER, beter blaa and lower blaa"!

Niall the Ra R just looks wrong without it's rear spoiler. The S 204 on the other hand looks just right. Have you just amended your letter to Santa for 2007
