Facebook/WiFi problem

Howdy lads, this problem is wrecking my head.

Very simply Facebook app will not work on the WiFi in the house. It works fine on other WiFi networks. Works fine on network 3G data signal but as soon as I connect to the WiFi the app wont work. All other apps are fine on my phone (Sony Xperia Z). This problem started about 3 weeks ago totally out of the blue, no idea why.

I've tried re-installing the network, resetting the router etc etc but no joy.

Any ideas?

i have a similar problem with my sony erricson ARC S wi fi is grand every where except my house could not get it to work so i got a sure signal box from vodafone {coverage is bad in my area}~ and i just turn off wifi at home and use 3g network :dontknow: :cuckoo:

Try fucking it out the window Andy

Always works for me!!!!!

What modem are you using? Have you got a spare to try? Isolate wether its a network issue or a modem issue? If its only failing on wi-fi in your house it has to be one of them, who is your BB provider?

I've got a TP Link TD-W8951ND router and provider is Eircom.

I've got a spare router around here somewhere, never thought to try that, thanks Eli.

Did you get the problem sorted Baz?

More than likely your ISP is blocking a port that the APP is using. If it is working else where it won't be related to the app.

So most apps will connect through a default port number, like virtual route it will take different ports are used to carry different types of network traffic....so for example email uses 25 traditionally and internet would use 80..thats to simplify it.
So your face book app could be using any predefined port say 1234 for example and your ISP, eircom? could be blocking this or whatever reason, or it could be blocked on your router...that would be my guess

No not we just switched to upc never a problem just a year now with them

Andy I have a few spare if your stuck, let me know how you get on, might be able to make a few calls and see if someone can look deeper into reason for that particular app not working on your line.

Cheers Eli. I'm heading back to Scotland this evening so it will be next week again I get to swap the routers over.
