Getting a 2nd Key on Jap import??

Hi all,

i recently sold my 05 Eudm sti an bought a 03 JDM one.
However its only come with one key.
I called JJ burke about getting an extra key and they said they don't know how you can get it programmed.

Anyone else ever get a second key cut an programmed anywhere? What did it cost?

Cheers

AFAIK the JDM Impreza keys are not coded. Contact mac mac, he is a member here who is a locks smith. He copied my codded Impreza key with no problems, my car is not JDM though. It is UK spec.

Steve.

Ok,

Maybe he'll be along, an i can email him.
I'd be surprised if its not coded at all, it is a remote central locking key also. So there's space for circuitrickery

had to get a second key cut and coded for my own type uk and cost in the region of 350 euro....
pretty sure a 03 sti jdm has a coded ignition..
not sure of jdm but depends if you want the central locking option on the key as that is an extra....
C+R in clondalkin can sort it for you...

jesus 350 notes ....
i woudlnt mind getting a spare done up for the legacy myself ....
i thought they were only about 80 notes with the central locking fob

Not sure about the newage sti but you can get a new key for a B4 for €6... Or buy a new key blank on ebay and get it cut here when it arrives

I was getting crazy quotes from the main stealer to get my coded key cut, but mac mac sorted me out for a nice price.

Steve.

Ye, i don't really care too much if it has the central locking on it or not. Its just to have a spare in the event I did end up loosing the only key I have. Thats when it gets really expensive!

I Know there's a guy a bit closer to home that has cut an coded keys for a friend of mine with a renault traffic for 60-80 quid. So i'll ask him an see.

Otherwise get onto that crowd in clondalkin. Thanks for the info guys.

Grand job robbie ...impreza key 300 quid...leggy key €6...   Sorted :smokin:

Did you get yours off ebay Robbie and then get it cut yea? :ponder2:

I got one about 2 and a half years ago which cost me a tenner in a normal key cutting place.. Have since changed my ignition barrel so require a new spare key which I was quoted €6 for from mac mac... Any jap import classic impreza or our legacy doesn't have coded keys, so only €6ish.. Not sure about the newer jap imports though

its not all imprezas that cost crazy money kiely!!!
mine has a different level of encryption apparently to previous models...
i was in C+R when it was coded and genuinely took bout 90 mins...
:dontknow: :dontknow:

think the blank key was 180 euro
then 5 euro in hardware store to copy cut
and another 70 for fob modifcation
then near 100 euro to code...
:shock2: :shock2:

That Hugo Mark?

Don't worry about it, just googled it there & there are 2 peden securitys!

One does cars & the other does general locks, my mother knows the owner of the general locks company but just thought he might have done both but seems to be different
