Going on 2FM

Sunday Drivers
I'm in a band called Hanshake. We gigged left right and centre for most of 2009 and we done recording etc. We were approached by a member of 2FM the other day who requested a CD of ours to be played on the radio! I'm guessing it's going to be something along the lines of an "upcoming bands" segment so it's very promising for us because we've put in a lot of work over the last year!

We've put a lot of money and man hours into rehearsal time so it's rewarding to have the possibility of some air time!

Because it's the summer we haven't had a lot of gigs as everyone is away and all the rest of it but we'll be gigging in Cambridge in England at The Lodestar Festival in early September which is exciting for many reasons.

I play drums in the band. I'd be interested to see if there's anyone else on here whos interested in music etc.!

There's a good bit of variation between the few songs that we've recorded because everyone's had their input and we're still finding our "sound" so to speak.

If anyone is interested then check us out and listen to some of our stuff on http://www.myspace.com/hanshake

Thanks,

Adam

I'm into the bikes myself, had about 6 up until a while ago when I decided to downsize the collection! I'll make up a demo though thanks very much for the help with that!

Thanks Pete! We're just finding our feet in this business at the moment but we've done plenty of gigs at this stage around Dublin and it's a great buzz to play in front of a crowd!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh I know where you are now sorry Dan was explaining where you were situated and I got a bit confused. I pass by that shop every Sunday on the way to work I'm working in the Spar shop on Thomas Street on weekends ( not the one at cornmarket just further up next to Lidl there.)

And I live just off Clanbrassil Street so I'm right around that area so I'll drop by some time!

Thanks man!

Hey man love the tunes! I'll give yiz an add on myspace

I'm using Sabian AAs and AAXs at the moment along with a Pearl Target kit which doesn't sound half bad for the price ( because I keep em tuned nice and fresh with evans EC2s) , a Sonor Force 2001 Snare which I adore, so LOUD , so many soundies have said it to me that it's the loudest snare they've heard  :049:

I've done my best to curb the parts whoring for the drums so far because I know if I was to buy everything I wanted, I'd have no money left haha so EVENTUALLY I'll get a proper kit but for the time being my money is going to the car :icon_razz:

The lads are using Marshalls, Ashdowns and higher end Peaveys which all sound good - They've got all Fenders at the moment because Simon's Epiphone Casino was stolen so he bought a beautiful tele.

Where do yous practice? Sometimes we go to Troubadour Studios out in Drumcondra as they've got great gear out there and Brian who works there is bang on- Most of the time though we practice in one of the lads' garages which is perfect for us!

Thanks,

Adam

Once you have good heads, you can get a pretty good sound from any kind of kit.
I have some aax sabians aswell but use a Paiste signature ride. It is the t1ts!!! Use a Pearl Masters kit and a dw 13"x6" snare which has a lovely pop off it. Like yourself, any spare cash i have gets put in to the leggy!!!

As for rehearsals, we sometimes use the studio but mostly its in a gallery and framing studio that our guitar player runs with his dad and brother. Its dead handy coz we dont have to pay for rehearsal space.

Keep us posted if ye're giggin out west
