Right lads im thinking of upgrading the camera soon and need yer words of wisdom please!

Iv been looking at Motorsport Photography alot lately and have noticed the quailty difference's from pic to pic and just dont think my camera is anywere near this quality!
Iv got a Samsung 7.0 Mega Pixel Digital at the mo and hoping to upgrade to the 10 Mega Pixel Canon EOS 4OOD SLR with EF-S 18-55mm lens kit(whatever that means :ponder:)
Iv done a few searches on the net and it seems to have got a very good review from alot of different places, but at €939 from Argos (€750 In catalogue for some strange reason!!!)i dont wanna make mistakes here!

Basically what im looking for is:
Crystal clear pics
Ill be taking alot of pics in dark/very low light,
Very little time delay in taking the pics!

Any advice greatly appreacted as always

My best mate is a professional photographer and only has and will alway use Cannon camera's he swears by them they come highly recomended and i would get one if i had the money

My auld lad is a professional photographer and he'll only use the Nikon cameras. He tried a canon before and I dont think he liked it but its all down to personal preferance really

yeah spot on with nikon and cannon..its like the aul Scooby v EVO debate

Nikon D80 is a superb piece of kit. You can find good bargains in the camera shops in Dublin, and i heard that they are going to be reduced in price due to a replacement model coming out. Unless you get a european wide warranty, avoid ebay.

Give me a call when you are free.

If you want to spend that money the NIKON D300 is a far better camera
that is until Cannon release their new version and as you can see the wheel
just keeps on turning. :D

That lenses is no good for you , basically it's a wide angle to standard .
You want a wide to zoom lenses

I'll fill you in on all the details but those camera's are very good
i don't think you need to spend that money to be honest ........ but i'll no more when i hear from ya

Niall.

Hello Dave. i bought the canon 400d a few months ago & from a very unprofessional point of view I find it a very good choice. Good features especially the full auto mode for point & shoot ease. Pics are great but with 10mp they should be. I think there is a rebate offer with canon products at the moment

Dave only about a month late
but i have been doing some research on this

Here's my advice

Nikon P5100 aprox € 240

12 Mega Pixels , great at night time , fast camera for action shots,
no zoom lens (3x Optical zoom), small light camera .

Fujifilm Finepix S9600 aprox €300

9 Mega Pixles, good at night time , quick camera for action shots, good zoom lens, great picture quality
very good CCD in this camera.

Dave these camera's are very good and also affordable you can pay more and get better
but i honestly don't think you need too.

The fuji camera is better but also bigger & heavier .

@Niall.better late than never :D :D
Cheers mate!really appreciate it :worship: :worship:

@Keith!cheers for the link lad
after looking at you'r pics,i ment to pm you ages ago about this but totally forgot!

If you want to use camera in motorsport photography, I'd rather go into DSLRs as they are quicker. (Canon 400D, Nikon D80 would do) Canon is more popular I think as its lenses are more affordable.

Anyway as some1 mentioned before it all depends on your personal preferences... try some of them.. how they hold in your hand, which you find easier to operate etc.
