Halfords have 170 pc tool sets they look fairly decent and there half price 150 quid anybody used them before ? I'm thinking of buying and would like to know if there good quality

I have mine 2 years and not a problem, buy yourself one of their breaker bars aswell and you will have most tools to do the basic DIY jobs

i have one, last two or three years, case isnt not very durable but tools are great has nearly everything you need, i dismantled a car with this! lifetime warranty on everything except the rachets which there is service kits available for if they break. I got mine for 125, use a halfords discount card to get a further 15% off

I agree Dan, I got one just to have in the Defender when I'm away, has everyting in it but the case fell to bits! are there replacement case available? I don't make a habit of going into halfrauds unless I'm stuck!
Cheers
John

great tools for the price, if you have a trade discount card you can buy them at less than the sale price anytime whether they are on sale or not

Anyone in Cork with a trade discount card?

i dont know exactly, i think its 10% on service stuff but there is a big discount on tools and socket sets, there is a set trade price i think whether the tools are on sale or half price or full price, it is still a good bit cheaper than the sale price

I got 40% off wipers with the card a week ago.
Way cheaper than I could get them in work.

Depends on what your getting with the card.

How much does the trade discount get you?
It does vary as lads said but for reference I got the €150 booster pack in there ( Christmas Eve and stuck badly) for 120! Got another €70 worth of stuff aswell and the lot came to €155!

Card number have gives 15% . makes the halfrauds stuff affordable!
Its only supposed to give 10% now, just in case its questioned in future. But most of the staff still give 15% so unless you're in a rush, go and come back later when someone else is on the till

Picked the last one of them up in halfords in Liffey valley today it was in the show case the lad said he only put it in a few days ago I asked him would he knock a few quid off for display model and he did very happy with it great bit of kit
Also picked up a breaker bar so I got that for free as the tools had no cardbord box

Using the same set for 2 years now. Quite happy about it and also bought it half price + Axa 15% discount

Thanks for the offer but what I would save on the card I would spend on the petrol going to Limerick.

my card gets me 15% off all tools even if on sale!!

the card only covers servicable items, paint tools filters and so on, any of the ripspeed or aftermaret stuff, radios sat nav or anything doesnt get the discount

the tools themselves are class, very durable and lifetime guarantee cases are ok if yor not throwing them round, iv had my current set for 2 years and had my previous set (now in the shed) for 6 years almost, broke two extender bars and a ratchet and all got replaced no problems....

get the halford professional/ advance items as they are the ones with the lifetime guarantee

great value fr thge money youll be able for most jobs with the 170 piece set, as said get the braker bar too

i need a new case, it snapped in half at the weekend and tools went all over the ground. grrr! I must find out if they have replacement cases

thanks for the replies lads i picked up the last set in halfords in tallaght its a massive upgrade over the previous tools i had.
also picked up a breaker bar and torque wrench so i guess im covered for most jobs
