HDMI Question

Completely non car related.. want to hook up laptop to oldish telly.Does anyone know if I get a HDMI to scart cable will it work or do I need converter. Hook the laptop up to newer tv with just straight forward HDMI cable

well bud , you can buy a scart to hdmi converter, works the same as an up scaling dvd player. Have one for the sky box , seems to work grand. Have never seen hdmi to scart as quality would be reduced, anyway I got mine in maplin in Galway if that's any help :thumbsup:
 
Does your laptop have tv-out functionality Gerry?

If so you could buy a vga to s-video cable, should be able to pick up in maplins or online pretty easily.

@Brian Laptop just has HDMI or vga.. the telly only has scart or rca.
on my newer telly I just have the HDMI which does the picture and sound , its a great job for films etc
@med how much are the converters

Not sure how much converter's are now I got mine on special offer at the time. The only thing is that from what you described in your post , it sounds like you are looking for a way to connect a hdmi laptop to a scart tv .Not sure if the converter I have works the other way, think it only converts scart signal to hdmi output.
