I had a run to Rathcoole yesterday but friday afternoon noticed a cut in one of the trucks tyres. No big deal-got a new tyre put on on the way to Dublin. Got back about 5 yesterday evenin, went out to a jump start-no problems, lookin forward to the grub and a glass of wine. Had to pick up a tractor and mixer then about 10 miles from home-herself came with me,loaded it up,no problems. " miles down the road truck just dies as if its out of diesel. Tried starting it again-no joy. Rang a neighbour who,s a truck mechanic-he had relatives home from England, couldnt come out. So called another lad-he was in bed-wouldnt get up. Sent herself on her way with her mother and then tilted the cab-could see a diesel leak around the pump but couldnt see from where exactly, lay down on the soaking wet road for half an hour trying to find it-no good. Eventually a farmer turns up in a tractor and offers to tow me off the road. We try but because the truck wont start it wont build air-therefore it wont release its brakes. Farmer goes on his way. So then I have to ring my competition to come out with his arctic to recover my truck(how stupid do I feel) at a rate of 100 euro/hour-it took 3 &1/2 hours. Got some air into the tanks from his rig to load and unload my truck. My yard is in a small road so his rig wont get in so we unload at the end of the road and I tow it in with my old tractor-halfway in the brakes lock back on again. So its still out there now blocking my driveway and I cant get anyone with a mobile compressor til nine tonight-Im going to have a heart attack. And of course while ive been out of action-two of my regulars have needed me and Ive had to hire in another company to do it.
