Independent Subaru technicians?

Hi I have an SH Forester diesel with a full Subaru dealer service history. I am wanting to keep it this way or similar and wondered does anyone know of an independent Subaru mechanic in the North West (Sligo)?

There used to be one in ballymote bit he's closed down the nearest now would be jj burkes I think he's in ballinrobe

Hi Lads - cheers  I have dealt with all these chaps over the years with Subaru foresters I had in the past - the lad in Ballymote is gone for sure, the folk in Donegal are dealers - and I am wanting to avoid dealer tax so to speak Longford might be an independent now but probably attached to Finnegan's so still dealer tax - any other thoughts? Up North - I know there is a dealer in Enniskillen but it is someone well versed in Subarus whom I can pay direct without 'dealer' tax I am ideally after ...

Don't know anyone near sligo.
Is it just service work or something bigger your after.

Service Blackstar but someone who knows Subarus and can give me a receipt to keep a service record as such

So basically you want to have your cake and eat it!

You might find it difficult to find

sorry when I mean 'dealer tax' I mean paying a chap to do the work he is qualified to do (fairly and completely) then paying his employer a profit - I would rather pay a good chap who knows Subaru's a good price rather than third parties - sorry for the confusion

just sounds like your a bit cheap tbh,how much will ya save on the work you need done by not goin to a main dealer or whatever tax paying employer that your on about:ponder:

Dude I don't mind paying - I would rather find a good independent first - I had a second car whilst I had a forester XT (I had an S Turbo prior - all serviced by Finnegans Ballymahon and Brownes Donegal - no complaints - work was spot on) - the second car at the time was a Peugeot 406 coupe HDi - I went to a dealer here with a FAP issue - I was quoted €1450 for a replacement FAP plus VAT with a trade in of the FAP being replaced - then service costs along side - all plus VAT. I called with the car to a independent Peugeot chap near Lisbellaw outside Enniskillen - he took the FAP off handed me a power washer and had me wash it out whilst he serviced the engine including timing belt - total charge - £270 sterling which was around €400 at the time - I learned very quickly then the difference and just thought I might ask on here first - if not a good independent I will be going to a dealership

I can see why. The FAP fluid is extremely toxic and carcinogenic. Of course he'd hand you the washer rather than he risk his health.
