Yeah they are heavier and not as focused. but you could still get 14k for one..you be lucky to get 11 for an sti

nice car IMO.....
i was in the market for one when i bought an sti instead!!!!!
bomb proof in all areas!!!

Ive owned both the DC2 and the DC5 in the past. DC2 sounded much nicer but completely dead below 6000rpm and very very basic interior-very raw car. DC5 is much more torquey outside vtec, nicer interior by far too. Both cars absolutely bulletproof mechanically but both have wheelspin issues! No point using cheap tyres on them.

I share a drive in a friend's DC2 in Mondello. The DC2 is bullet proof and presumably the DC5 is no different. Honda has never had a VTEC engine recall!

The DC5 does not have the front diff that the DC2 has so its not as sharp to drive. The DC2 does not suffer torque steer and it never fails to amaze me how such a high revving fwd car can grip so well in the wet. I dont know if the same can be said of the DC5. Good front tyres really bring these cars alive so avoid cheap boots.

I'd still have a my 00 sti Version 6 over the DC5 but a change is good just to see what other performance cars are like. The DC5 is much more modern inside than the STi but your brother will miss the midrange torque of the sti and its scooby rumble.

Big Damo from Athlone had CTR after 2 Imprezas (both 00UK cars) and said whilst it was comfortable to drive and and had great poke it still hadn't the "feel or Go" of a sports car and ended up going back to a Subaru. As frawls said "he'll miss the rumble and mid range"

Cheers
John

Edited because Damo had a civic not an Integra :icon_redface:

guys a mate of mine has a dc5 he had a dc2 and reckoned the dc2 was the better handler and to get them to go you have to screw the nuts off them all power is top end which in comparison to an impreza is a balls

If its JDM spec DC5 then its a good deal. And the JDM ones have a lsd gearbox along with brembo brakes
