Is your mechanic a sabotage mechanic...?

Paddy scooby

Middle Lane Hogs
Guys you may have read over the last few days post from me about failed water pumps, and water leaking etc etc.... Well after taking it to two mechanic's including the one that normally works on it I figured it out myself and fixed it just there now. Will I tell you what it was... SOMEBODY loosened the jubliee clip in the rad hose that goes from the rad into the top of the engine. I know this as when I eventually accessed it, it was so loose it was hanging there.
The reason I think this was my mechanic is..... About the middle of march I had him fit my down pipe before I got the car remapped, so he did. 2 days before I went for the remap ( the day after I collected it from the mechanic ) I just thought I better check oil levels etc before mapping to be sure everthing was ok, popped the bonnet to find..
Intercooler not bolted down properly
Air filer housing not sitting properly
Power steering pipes leaking fluid slightly
Induction piping jubliee clips not tightened at all
And now I find that the jubliee clip for the rad pipe was also loose......

Im soooooo pi**ed   . This guy is supposed to be a rally mechanic, learned his trade on old WRX's, tunes cars for mondello touring cars and touring cars in england, some fooking As* hole :shoot: :shoot: The reason why I think its some kind of sabotage is because he was fitting a down pipe, WHAT THE HELL WAS HE DOING ROUTING in the radiator area, some plonker, anyway guys just letting you's know watch out for the coyboys!!! (No Cowboys and indians jokes please)

Right so you think he loosed top rad hose for more business in the future?? :ponder:

fair enough on the intercooler bit..

thats why we check and double check everything...

jauses im sorry to hear that sounds pretty dodgey allright one way of ensuring plenty of work but id be a bit wary about nameing and shameing on a public forum it seems that good mechanics that know what there doing and wont bu**s**t u are hard to come by had a bad experience with a machanic recently myself

Intercooler not bolted down properly FAIR ENOUGH MECHANIC IS AT FAULT
Air filer housing not sitting properly HE WOULD NOT HAVE NEEDED TO REMOVE
Power steering pipes leaking fluid slightly WOULD SAY NON RELATED
Induction piping jubliee clips not tightened at all AGAIN WOULD NOT HAVE NEEDED TO REMOVE

Whoever serviced it last would be responsible for air filter housing and induction jubliee clips left loose.....

And someone on purpose loosing top rad hose jubliee clip on purpose seems very far fetched.!!
Who was the last person with the radiator out? Timing belt or Rad change?

had something similar happen to me, i bought my old car to a mechanic to get it sorted cause it was cutting out and over reving. he took it for a day or two and changed the water temp sender down beside the stat. now the limited experience i have with cars is that if the car is cutting out or over reving it has something to do with the air.....fuel.......or electicity. he gave me the car back and said it was fixed....te next day on the way to work it started happening again. i stripped the air inlet assembly and found lots of gunk including on the actuator motor which controls the car at idle i tried cleaning it but ended up replacing it and after paying him 300 euro i fixed it myself. i wouldnt usually send my car to be fixed by anyone but at the time i had very little spare time and it seemed the right thing to do. ive had that car from new and still have it and that was the first time anyone else worked on it so the first thing i did was check it over for any future problems created by that twat

Your rite dave it was me but i didnt have that side of the pipe off EVER!!! I never had any reason to take off that jubliee clip. The mechanic Im taking about will not be named and shamed as I dont want a law suite! (no concrete proof) But it was always him that worked on the car.

Thats my point Dave he had no business to go near any of them parts, aswell it was Martin Tracy that put in the air filter 1 year ago so nobody in a year had the cover off.... its all pointing toward the mechanic sorry lads I woul be the first to say im a twat and i f**ked up but it wasnt me

least no damage done and everything is sorted thats the main thing  hope you dont come across anymore problems  happy scoobying :subaru:

Sorry to hear this paddy, sounds like it was a disaster waiting to happen alright.

But if its any use there are plenty of traders on here now, most of them specialise in servicing & working on Subarus so maybe its time you found a new mechanic for yourself

Thanks lads yeah no more disasters, good point alright just most of them are up around dublin, but to get a good mechanic it would be worth the spin. All is grand now lads thanks

Cheers

Couple of years back i had an evo 6 :hang: It was misfiring badly so i booked it in with a recommended "specialist" in the tralee area-im up in galway. Two trips to him and with my wallet 800 euro lighter i still had the misfire. I questioned it being a fuelling problem and he said no way. Took it home-talked to a mechanic who lives 5 miles away-he told me he knew what it was. Dropped it to him on a wednesday night-thursday morning at ten he rang to say it was sorted. Cost? 70 euro. Cause? injector #2 blocked-i think that qualifies as fuelling problem. needless to say-no-one else has worked on any of my cars since.
