Its pretty hassel free, but u get what u pay for. Also before buying the car check what the VRT is on it first. The Irsih goverment sometimes likes to give a sly right hook to the jaw to people who import there cars.

Basically with IBC u you have to put 750 euro into there Bank Account first if u want to make a bid or put a offer on a car. This is to insure there not getting bogus bids. Also you will get your money back if you change your mind.

Then once you've bought your car they ship it over on the next boat (think shiping is 600 euro its sometimes in the price, well mine was). It usually takes 6-8 weeks to get here. Then you need to get a (cant remember what there called) a dealer to handle the import fee's, i used Avant Shipping, you could do it ur self but it only cost 50 euro for these guys to handle the paper work. You pay the shipping company 100 euro to take the car off the boat then they will give you release papers.

Once you have these you can go collect your car...
Now heres where the Tax's come into play.
1st fee is the 10% Import fee (i think) which is 10% of what u payed for you car.
2nd is the 21% tax (cant remember what for) which is added to the value of the car plus the 10% which was added.

Once uve payed these the car is released to you with no plates, they will give you forms so you can register your car the same day.

Basically i payed 4500 for my scooby off there, which included the shipping. So that got me has far has Dublin docks.
After all the fees the Car cost me 8500 in total.

Hope that helps.

Its a 98 v5. But its like a said u pretty much get what u pay for. I think Mick spec-c imported his himself also.

Hello Cally,

I imported my car aswell. Send me a pm and I will give you the details along with a contact in Ireland who done some of the work for me

The most important thing is to make sure the auction grade of the car is the best you can afford

Cheers,

Michael

Hey WetPatch you got a cracking car
for that money

I always thought it would be a load paper work and basically to much
hassle ............. but that sound s pritty easy :D

Niall.

But its like Michael said, get the car with the highest grade u can affored because u really do get what u pay for.  Mine was grade 3.5 so if u can get a 4 or higher ur laughing.

Well it would b a bit of paper work but u just pay that Avant Shipping (there in Santry by the go karts) 50 euro and they sort all the Landing fees and import fees and basically all the paper work. Also they will put ur car in a secure lock-up when it comes off the boat for you.

Your basically cutting out the middle man and saving ur self a few grand.

But in saying this u do have to b carefull and not just buy the first thing you c because unfortuntly because theres no middle man uve no 1 to go back to if the car breaks down. (my clutch went after 3 weeks) so thats why me and mick r saying dont skimp on a cheap car.
