has anyone know how long it takes to get your log book back from shannon? bought a car+cant tax it untill i receive this.was going to chance it but car hasn't been taxed since dec 2007.not worth the risk.cheers.

Hello Dave,
When purchasing a car which is out of tax, it is best to take the log book, having the previous owner sign over ownership etc
You can then tax the car and are not liable for the previous owners time they had it off the road
The tax office will then take the log book off you and send it back to Shannon to have a new book made with your ownership details etc
In your case the turn around in Shannon is relatively quick at the moment, I would not expect it to take more than a week
However it is very hard to get info on the phone from them
