manual or auto ?

Middle Lane Hogs
Hi lads

It just crossed my mind to get a car with auto.. so far I hear comments against that but i'm getting lazy, not burning wheels so why not :) :ponder:
but... what do you think about automatic transmission ??
Is there anyone whos drivin scooby with auto ??

comfortable but boring in my opinion, i like it in jeeps and stuff but wouldn't be my cup of tee for cars

as above but the bigger the power the better they are use to have 5.8 ltr ford falcon back at home that was auto and i wouldn't of had it any other way..

MY BMW 740i is auto/tiptronic

And i love it............

but only if its a big 3 or 4 Litre bm, merc etc etc

Subaru MANUAL all the way.

Lot of people rate the bmw smg m3 very highly, you can set the paddle shift as harsh as you like and you have the auto tip box for cruising..
Toyota supra auto box was designed wit performance in mind.. well none fact that a supra wit auto box is a quicker quarter mile drag car than a manual 6spd exact same power supra, due to its exact gear changes everytime and less wheel spin.... not my cup a tea do...

I drove auto foresters for years and if they made the latest sti in auto i would have gotten that!!
There is no down side other than initial off the mark waiting for the turbo to spool up in first gear cause you've got no clutch to slip and burn out!
I think they may work out more economical too! cause unless you giving her stick in sports mode she potter along in the highest gear she can.
And Its also really handy for quick overtaking manouvers you dont have to choose a gear then change up half way through on the wrong side of the road instead you can just plant you foot, keep both hands on the wheel and by the time the turbo has spooled up she'll have droped a gear or two and you're off
I would definately say take both for a good test drive and dont mind all the "It's not real driving" crap a lot of lads go on about
Auto's are'nt the wasteful slow slushboxs they used to be
I still have my old 2001 forester STI auto If want to take her for a spin

If i was buying forester with turbo i'd go for manual. I'm not sure if auto would do well in offroad.
however my second thought was legacy gl 2.0 with auto... great car too but i was worried it would a bit sluggish.
i like and i do overtake a lot so if auto's has a sport mode then it's fine for me :)

sure I'd love to take it for a spin :)

btw i'm still before my driving test and i'm aware if i pass on auto i'd be restricted to it. Will coppers pay any attention to it later on ??

Thanks man. There is only one scooby in my driveway lately, that's my new 06 STI forester which replaces the silver 01 sti (which i still have for sale 12K) and my new work car is a 200bhp deisel golf gti 45mpg, replaces my 98 forester turbo 22mpg(i put 160 euro of petrol into her in one week at one stage) so i sold her to a chap from limerick about a month ago! and the blue impreza is davelegacy's car that he lent to me when i was having a spot of bother with the engine in the black car (thanx again dave ). but i also have my play car 92 rwd skyline for mondello.
those speedlines on daves car are 16"s and as far as i know dave was selling them.
