Welcome to the McRae Gathering 2008

Welcome to the official website of the 2008 McRae Gathering. This event has the potential to be the largest Subaru event EVER in the UK and is for one purpose - to celebrate the life of the legend that was Colin Steele McRae MBE.
As we're all aware, the tragic deaths of Colin & Johnny McRae, Ben Porcelli and Graeme Duncan touched the world, and particularly so in the Subaru community. Plans are now afoot for the "McRae Gathering 2008" - an event to celebrate the life of the Rally Legend that was Colin McRae. More details on the event can be found via the "About this Event" link on the main site menu, or by simply clicking here.
Although we all share the same passion, we are comprised of many different communities with many different websites and forums. This website is totally independent and not affiliated to any Club or organisation. It is here to serve as a central source of information that webmasters and individuals can refer to in order to keep up with, and spread the word on the plans and updates so we can ensure maximum possible coverage - and hopefully a turnout that Colin would be proud of.
There's not much on here right now, but I know things are going on frantically behind the scenes in terms of organisation. What you can do right now is subscribe to our Mailing list in the menu bar on the left. That will ensure you get the latest news and plans as and when we have it. It is TOTALLY GUARANTEED SPAM FREE. We will not use, abuse or sell your email address. We will only use it to send out updates. The webmaster of this site detests spammers with a passion!
There is an online shop in preparation of selling stickers and potentially other event-related merchandise to support the McRae Charities, but that has no products in it as yet - expect more on that VERY soon! We are also potentially looking at a charity auction.
There is also a FAQ Section where we will place answers to the most frequently asked questions once we know what the most common questions are!
If any business is interested in banner advertising on this site, again with ALL proceeds (not profits!) going to the McRae Charities. Please contact us.
Webmasters - If your Club or organisation is supporting this event (no commercial businesses please unless you wish to make a donation!), please email your logo along with the link to your website to andy@mcrae-gathering.co.ukThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for inclusion/linkback on this page - and please spread the word on this event. We hope the 2008 McRae Gathering will not only be fun and a weekend to remember, but also raise a huge amount of money for the McRae charities and can only do that with your support.
Remember - "We're here for a good time - not for a long time"

McRae Gathering
30th and 31st of August 2008
In the past few months since the sad passing of Colin McRae, feverish work has taken place behind the scenes to create a tribute from the Subaru community with the view of celebrating the life of a true legend. Now that official permission has been obtained from the parties concerned, McRae Estate, Jimmy and Margaret McRae and Prodrive, and approval for our plan been obtained from the relevent authorities, this is the time to release the details of what is planned.
An event taking place on the weekend of Aug 30th and 31st comprising of a convoy of Impreza's from Lanark, Colin's home town and Prodrive in Banbury. An overnight stop comprised of either camping for the hardcore or Travelodge/B & B's for the not so hardcore and a mass Subaru meeting on the Sunday at Prodrive in Banbury.
The route of the convoy is as follows and has been designed to go through or be near as many regions as possible
Lanark - M74 - M6 - M61 - M60 - M62 - M1 - M25 - M40 - Prodrive, Banbury
The maximum speed of the convoy will be 10mph less than the given speed limit for the road and NO excessive speed will be tolerated by ANYONE.
Everyone taking part in the convoy will have one of these stickers on there car to designate that they are indeed part of the convoy. Details of cost and how to obtain the official stickers will be made available in the next week or two
This event will be posted on every Subaru BBS/Club/Forum across the land
