NCT Disc?!

Well i was stoped the other night it has a nct just never put the disc in the window
Asked me to bring it to my local garda station along with tax and insurance

Probably!

Don't have one (NCT or disc) and have passed through a couple of tax & insurance checkpoints no problem recently. The guards don't seem that bothered by it :dunno:

i take it thats equal to our MOT test disc...............
well its not law for us to display it, but not a lot of people know that, only found that out when i was talking to traffic police in portadown in there scooby............

John that's Cork.... they don't really mind,
im a classic example have never done the test and
don't intend too...............

But in Dooblin where there are more cops than scum
they have nothing better to do.

Also you do not need an NCT for your TAX :D

It wont be long before the DOT cop on to that one. I know you can tax your car online without an NCT but they will probably change that in the future to further enforce the need for an NCT.

@ Niall u dont have to have a nct for tax, but they do ask u to bring it in when taxing, as AndyC said how are u able to tax online then.........

As regards having to display, since u've done it why attract attention to urself by not having it up?????

Morgan

last year when i went to insure my car with a new company i was asked for my nct cert.....changed company again this year and was not asked for it, as for the gardai i think it depends on the humour they are in when they stop you, about two years ago i was stopped and my disc was out of date i was asked why and i just said it had failed the test and i was waiting for a part before i could get it retested.....i was not asked to produce it at a further date.

You don't need to have your NCT cert to tax your car either online or in person. When the NCT was introduced it was a requirement but they soon stopped that when they seen how much tax it was holding back because of cars failing..... money talks ;)

I do know of a guy who got done for no NCT but TBH he was a tosser and the guards were only looking for something to do him for....

Alan.

Morgan if you don't have one it's
kinda hard to display it :ponder: :ponder:

As for Tax as said you DONT NEED IT when asked at counter
is your car NCT'd i said NO...............simple as that.

Niall.

Oh ya..... im not saying peeps should do as
i have, if it ever becomes a prob for me.

I'll simply get it done then :)

Niall.

Same here, if it becomes a problem at some stage then I'll go and do it. Until then I won't be bothering!

Lads I haven't even considered going for the test but if I was to do they try to do the breaking effort test on our always on all wheel drive cars as it would wreck the diff? I was reading a manual and it said the cars are exempt from that part of the test unless they have a 4 wheel one in place.

They do the brake test by taking your Scoob outside, accelerating as fast as they can before throwing the anchors on - its the only bit of fun they get, yet they still won't raise a smile...

Are you for real? Interesting. I wonder if they'd like it if I Limit the revs to 3000rpm with the power fc, Just enough to do the emissions test. I'll keep that in mind if I ever get told to do the NCT  :D

When they test subarus, an extra category appears on the bottom of the form as follows:

Clutch fried - Y/N

You have to get a yes on this to pass the NCT!!

It is law that you have to have it displayed, it was passed a couple of years ago when the manditory testing for cars over 3 years old came in. mine is 3 over three but have not yet been called for a test. maybe it four years and over does anyone know for sure, but you do have to display it if you have it done.
