right....brought the leggy up to the nct centre today to get tested and was politley surprised to get a full pass...i thought fookin deadly....happy days no more worries for two years cause im havin serious sh1t with my other car and the nct at the moment. so i head out to the car park and stick the cert into the thingy beside the tax and insurence. i then notice the datse are a bit weird.....08-08...i think thats a fookin misprint so i bring it back into the office where your women behind the counter procedes to tell me cause my car was first registered in 2000 and the fact that it was never tested since registration in this country that ive to bring it back in august and pay another 50 euro to have it tested just so those cnuts can get he back money they seem to think i owe them.
at this point the other ppl in the que steped away cause they could see me goin red :angry:.....so diggin me finger nails into the counter to stop meself from hittin the nearest person i asked her calmly do i have to come back here in 4 months to retest this car even though it wasnt in the fuckin country in 2000 or even in 2006 when you say it should have been tested.....she said YES. at which point i walked out calmly shoutin dirty bunch of robbin fookin bastards.
now that i have that off me chest.....i was wonderin how the fcuk can these pricks get away with this blatent robbery which is suger coated with a big fcuk you and see you then again in another two years. i can now see why so many ppl dont pay road tax and drive heaps of shite cause its cheaper then doin it legitimatly even if you do get caught.
 
you are not the only one that hates the NCT. Wunch of Bankers. Thank God I only have to grace them with my presence only every 2 years.
 
u'll only get a year when u 1st nct any import for some reason and because we have such a gr8 country and wonderful ppl runnin it we have to go through dis sh*t its a joke
 
ya a friend was the same with his leggy, same story.
iv been there 4 or 5 times and still no pass over little things.
but the last time i was there i had to come back for a retest on something small.
the lad that did it was sound but his boss took it out of the shed and came back saying the rear diff is fooked.
yet it passed all the other times. :ponder:
havent been back since.

Ive NCTd 3 imports and got 2 years each time.
 
I only NTC'd the RA two weeks ago and I got two years! Never heard of this retest in the same year before!
 
Have my NCT tommorrow afternoon lads.

I know the car was first registered in Japan in Sept. 2000.

Does this mean i will have to be tested again in Sept? :angry:

Where did you guys get your 2 years? what centre was it at? There'll be war in there tomorrow if they only give me until Sept!
 
same thing happened to me with the wifes car ba£$"rds didn't cop it till i left the place so i rang them and went banana's they gave me a cert for 15 weeks with the same speil about the car being a 2000 reg car. when i kicked up she said if it was within 12 weeks they'd let it go but not for 15 would'nt mind that was a retest W£$%*&S!!
 
lads this is how the system works.........

car is due an NCT 4 years after first registration.......

it then keeps that system throughout its life........

so i'e car first registered 23 sep 1998 be due NCT 23 sep 2002, 23 sep 2004, 23 sep 2006, 23 sep 2008, 23 sep 2010, 23 sep 2012 etc etc etc..

so if its a jap import or uk import and you went there tomorrow it'll still only be til 23 sep 2008.

although you can take it upto 3 months early so you could take it between 23june-23sep and then will be til 23 sep 2010 equals 2yrs 3mth NCT..
 
done the nct meself this mornin and they failed me cos the sun visor i put on was below the wiper blades.

so i pulled it off in front of him there and then and he passed me

happy days :D
 
ok i think i get it now........because i brought mine in early ive to take the test again cause its due as part of its poxy little 2 year cycle. i brought it in early cause the garage i bought it off gave me a nct gaurentee of 3 months so if i had any issues with it within the 3 months he would sort it out. so if im right....if i had of waited untill its due offically ied of gotten the two years.but if i had of waited and there was something wrong ied of ran out of the little bit of warenty that i had......cheers dave it explains alot.....im still miffed over it though :roll:

Glad to hear they passed the car for ya, I've mine on 11th of this month...isn't it fairly idiotic though that you can rip of the sunstrip an they give you a disc :dunno: you can just drive down the road and get a new one put on and leave it there for the next two years :whistle:
 
the same thing happened me a few years ago. I rang the headoffice NCT place in Nass I think did a quiet bit of complaining and got a new 2 year NCT cert in the post following week

I got my Glanza NCT last year and only got 8 months on it.
My Impreza Due date for the nct is/was october 2006 so im guessing if i do it now it will be up in october.
So im gonna hold out till october me thinks
 
will i get 2 yrs nct im booking it soon :ponder:, the previous owner of my car had garage insurance that was his own car that time

the car first registration in japan is 1 june 98

first licencing in irl 11 jun 07

first registration in ireland 5 april 2007

hopefully i will get the 2 yrs nct :pray:

Exact same issue...as long as your wiper blades don't touch the strip you're ok so you can chop the blades and have the strip take up half the windscreen :D done mine at 8 tonite and had to take off sunstrip, I'm just getting another one tomorrow so it's a big joke really :wall:
 
Cars 2 years in the country now and never been tested. When ever ive been pulled the Guards have never said anything to me about it either.
