Petrolheads
Hello Folks the car passed its NCT yesterday in Tullamore and despite hearing nightmare stories about that branch I found them pleasent and they went over the car very well,I dont like having to pay 50 qiud for it but it wasnt as bad as I expected cheers John L.

Depends who you get as a tester i suppose... I had the sisters car in and they failed it on a number of things (nothing to do with safety or the cars roadworthiness), even though it passed the same test only 4 months previous with the exact same setup... I fixed the problems last week, took about 20mins and then they told me they couldnt get me an appointment in 4 different test centres that could be done in time for the retest... So now when i do it again, its another fooking €50... They are just another prime example of conmen running rampant in Ireland...

That is true and I did see them re checking 2 cars while I was there one went to get bulbs and one lad went and got new tyres so they did seem to be flexable or do they have to do that cheers John L.

Robbie is there not something in the rules saying if they cannot provide you with a test within 4 weeks that your entitled to a free test?

They have their arse's covered once again, says on the back of the report that you have to book the retest within 21 days of the initial test :angry1: :angry1: ... A Headlight mounting was broke so they said they have to retest the headlight alignment, other than that a battery clamp was missing (because it won't fit over the halfords battery) but the most annoying thing is that it passed in drogheda with that stuff a few months earlier so i didnt think it was an issue :angry1: :angry1:

I am wating six weeks for my test and have another two weeks till it is due. But it I tell them it is fee whats the bets that they will go over the car with a fine tooth come and fail it on some thing that they would of not bothered with juat ot get there own back.

don't think a free test would be the cheepest option. :dontknow:
