I actually think its down to the super short ratios look how quick he's topping out

I'm pretty sure it is rather E36. The dashboard is from E36 and you could see the cars shape shown in the begining of the vid.

I had to turn the volume way down too but what a noise! A DSG twin clutch system with paddle mounted shifters will change gears just as quick but without the need for ear plugs. That's probably missing the point I know, but seriously, how long could you last before your head would explode with that straight cut transmission screaming in your ears!

I think quite a lot of this guys speed was more to do with his car's far superior set up over some of the other sheds than to all out driver skill.
