i moved into a new house there two weeks ago and this box is on the wall,can any1 tell me will one of them decoders work or do i still have to buy the basic package from ntl before it will work??thanks

If you are talkin about the dodgy box, they dont work anymore, but Ntl digital is cheaper than the basic analouge package and they put a new OB on the wal anyway.

Well if there is all you need to do is connect or make sure the outside connection is still made off, when ntl disconnect people they simply remove your cable from the tap point outside, but any dodgy box they bring out now will be soon sorted, they have changed all their operating software and hardware to cisco, and paid them a lot to stay on top of it, so much so, ntl are out the door with new connections for digital.

i moved into a gaf der last week and there was a chorus box similar to that i plugged in a cable from box to telly and there was about 12 stations there,

Yeah thats the basic analouge stations , they will always be there unless it has been disconected from out side tap.

the box is just the housing for your aerial point ntl or sky would connect outside in the box usually under electric metre box tingy and just get feed tru dat point

ye or a set of rabbit ears for the time been till you can sfford to get something set up ive a spare pair if you want a lend of them
